First time I went on one of these trips, I was clueless to the forum and I just arrived on my trip day one without planning. I cannot say that was a problem because I had a great time, but I wanted to send a shout out to anyone else going on my trip. Anyone want to chat beforehand?
I don't really know much about the forums either. I just posted on here to get my mind thinking about vacation. I have been working for a couple years now and have learned that vacations are essential to your sanity!!
You been on any Contiki trips before?
Anyways, thanks for responding. It seemed like everyone else was going on the other dates here in forum land.
i went on european discovery in 2006... but it wasn't like a real contiki tour because it was with my classmates... i'm a travel agent and after we finished travel school we got to go on a trip... so it was 48 classmates on a bus... no strangers... this time will be a bit different i suspect
I really like that Contiki attracts people from different parts of the world. It's always a good time with friends from up North, Australia and New Zealand. I am not sure if we will get anyone from any other countries.
No worries about meeting new people because that is what these trips are all about! I can never get any of my friends to ever go anywhere with me, so I just go without them. I am not going to let adventure pass me by.
yeah its pretty rare to get people from non english speaking countries... i have been on many tours (not all contiki) and only twice i had someone from somewhere else... one lady from spain and one girl from germany... but she had been living in london for like 5 years so i don't know if that counts
Well, I look forward to meeting you when our trip rolls around. As far as I am concerned, it cannot come soon enough!!
Hopefully, some other people will join the discussion here so it is not just a Q & A session between two people. I have been trying to watch the forum here to see if anything else pops up, but it is still pretty early in the game.
I will be getting in a day early before the trip so I can poke around the city on my own and combat the jet lag that I always get on 8 hr flights. I hear that the hotel is kind of far from the downtown area, but when has anything ever been easy? Take care
pffft... 8 hour flight? is that all??? hehe sorry i'm a flight snob :P
usually when i travel it takes me between 24 and 42 hours to get anywhere... 24 to europe and 42 to asia usually... anywho... i hope you know i'm just teasing
contiki is notorious for having poorly located hotels... i guess it saves us all money but not really when you have to pay for cabs and stuff... oh well its all part of the adventure... hopefully you will have gotten the hang of things by the time i get there and you can show me the ropes...
I'll join this conversation. I'm thinking about booking. I'm a 32 yo girl from the US. I've never been on a contiki tour, but i have friends that have done it and they had fun. how many people are on the tour? do they tell you this when you book the tour?

!Buenos noches!
Hopefully you get to go because these trips are a lot of fun. My previous experience is somewhere in the ball park of 40 people on a trip. You basically are on a tour bus that has 'x' amount of seats filled with 'y' amount of people. I would say that usually x = y. I didn't get my math on this weekend, so please forgive my need.
BTW: I had to pay my trip in full by Mar 31st with a $300 deposit. I think policy is generally 1 month in advance. If you call them, they should be able to tell you if this date is still available. Any other questions, just ask.
These trips are pretty easy going and there are always people to talk to, so no worries. I also travel alone and find it less constraining that way. Think of it this way, you get to make all new friends and get to learn things about them while on a tour bus or seeing something awesome! I would love to chat via email or im. Send me a private message, so your details don't get posted all over this forum. I would love to chat with you other two ladies as well. Hopefully, Lubs and 329 book this trip.
Ps. Ps. Anyone speak Spanish?? I am marginally OK at it when people don't speak so quickly. I am trying my best to brush up, but then again there may be native speakers from the US and that would be lovely. Cheers!
