I've done some trips but never in the US. Im going on the Western April 9th-16th and am wondering what type of travelers typically do this trip? How many on the bus? couples? from where? Site see-ers? or more partiers?

I've done Contiki tours in Europe and the bus was a mixture of couples, singles and friend groups. If you aren't a big party animal don't worry, its really up to you what u do. Some people on our tour went out partying all night while others went back to the hotel to go to sleep.
