Hav u done the WW?Could u answer some questions?Im doing this trip Sept 3rd 2008,& mayb u cud answer some questions. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!:
1) How did you find the accomodation? Clean, quiet, comfortable? Were the places close to places to go and see? 2)I know I would have to stick to schedules but I would like to go off the beaten track just by myself or with a couple of contikiers as much as possible. Did u feel that it was easy to do your own thing if you wanted to? 3)Did your tour guides inform you about the places, would you recommend me to get my own tour guide book and maps so I can learn a bit more? 4)How was the experience of being on a bus for 2 weeks? What would you recommend me to make the journey as pleasant as possible? 5)How was the average age on your trip? late 20s,early 30s? THANKS!! |

Hey there,
I did Wild Western last August and had an absolute blast. Best holiday I have ever been on. Ok 1. Accommodation was great everywhere, clean and tidy even Vegas and I had heard a lot of bad reports about the hotel before I went there so was a little worried but honestly it isn't that bad. None of the places were too far away from anywhere. In Anaheim you are right beside Disney Land so it was perfect, with the Grand Canyon you are only a 10 min walk from the rim and in San Fran you can grab a bus down to fisherman's wharf from outside the hotel. 2.You get loads of time to yourself if you wish, usually a day in Vegas, day in Grand Canyon, Bass Lake, San Fran and LA. Just depends on what excursions you sign up for. I never felt pressured anyway. 3.We had a great tour guide called Jason 'Cap' told us everything from places to eat, drink and visit. Even walked us to bars at nighttime that he recommended and they were all good. You get maps of places usually when you arrive at certain locations like Grand Canyon or San Fran from the tour guide. 4.You are hardly on the bus that long to really feel bored, if you are like me you will use that time to catch up on sleep! They play music, dvds anyhow. Longest day is between Vegas and Bass Lake but you stop regularly for restrooms and food. 5.Well I was 24 when I went and I felt just right, there was anybody from age range of 19 to 32 so really if you are in your twenties you are fine. Hope this helps, have a great time and enjoy it. Only thing I will say is that it all went by too quickly for me. Was sad to leave all my new tour mates behind. Jan |

1) Accomodation - not bad for me. Didn't spend a lot of time in the room during the day, one couple didn't like the closet in Las Vegas so they just switched rooms (the door wouldn't stay shut and was creaky), other than that I didn't mind the accomodation, but I went in mid may to early june 2008 so the grand canyon lodge was cold in the bathroom - but you shouldn't have a problem with cold in sept. Grand canyon was dark - it is a natural park, so they have no night lamps - it'd be nice if you're walking out late to bring a flashlight/torch. I didn't feel the accomodations were too far away from places to go and see. If you go to Mariposa, know that it is a small town and there are only two bars, one of which was karaoke, and the other closed too early for us to try out by the time we returned from Yosemite Park
2) For me I tried a lot of optionals, but our TM didn't pressure anyone into doing events. It sometimes feels like there's never enough time to do everything (especially if you're trying to get back to the tour bus on time instead of catching a bus/taxi). I had loads of fun though - I liked San Francisco because you had 3 days to wander in your own groups and not have to unpack/repack (which turns into two free days since the first day is getting there and moving in, showing you the city, etc) 3) I brought a few maps with me but never ended up using them. In San Francisco, there were free maps and coupons in the tourist booklets along the streets and in the Las Vegas hotel pamphlets. Because I was doing most of the optionals, I didn't have enough time to wander around San Diego or Tempe or the beaches much - there are often maps in tourist brochures if you look for them. My tour group got a handy map for San Francisco and the two parks (grand canyon and yosemite) from the tour manager. 4) Being on a bus wasn't so bad for me. Bathrooms were sometimes busy during rest-stops though, especially when we stopped in smaller rest stops 5)Some people were as young as 18 or so (I think they must have been that because they were just going into university), and others up to early 30's |

Hi Explorer1104839 I have been to WW it was really fun. We enjoyed a lot. For the whole trip we had used online Travel resource. With the hlp of it we were quite comfortable. You also take help from it. It is good. |
