I just did this trip in July. I am from Canada (Manitoba). It is absolutely amazing!!!!! I have been to Vancouver and Whistler before because I have family in Van., but have never seen the Rockies (Jasper, Banff, Lake Louise, etc.) The scenery is stunning!!!!! Pictures do not do it justice. All of the optionals are great...I did them all except the Sulphur mountain gondola in Banff. By then we had seen and climbed up soo many mountains that I wasn't to keen on doing another one. Some did and said it was nice, but do it if you think you will regret it later. The rafting is awesome, class three is not soo bad.

As for the weather in May, it will be on the cooler side, probably around 15 or so. Bring a rain jacket and something warm to wear. Everyone dressed casual, west coast is very laid back...as are all the western provinces!! People on the tour commented how laid back Canadians on this side are...we are indeed!!!

Hope this helps you, have an amazing time!!!!!

Hey Daisymay!

I did this tour May 09 and loved every second of it!

As far as clothes go, you'll be fine with t-shirts and jeans if you have a decent jacket and a sweater or two to get you through the colder parts. Vancouver and Banff where really warm, Whistler was warm in the village but Whistler Mtn was covered in snow.

You go to places like Maligne Lake and the Athabasca Glazier and you'll need something warmer then. I packed gloves, a scarf, a beenie and just layered sweaters/jumpers and I was fine.

There are a few nights out, which where great fun! Jeans and a nice top will be fine. A few girls wore dresses when we went out, so if that's your style go for it! But it's all pretty casual, nothing over the top.

I DEFINITELY recommend GOOD, COMFORTABLE walking shoes. They are essential! And take an extra battery + memory card for your camera. The scenery is amazing.

I did all optionals except the rafting and don't regret a single one. If you can afford the heli ride, do that for sure. My fave optional was the horse riding and steak fry. Great way to see the Rockies around Banff (where I now live) and a fantastic feed!

Have fun Smiler
