Hi Guys ,

I am under the impression that the "Contiki" Base hotel in NZ is Mecure Auckland.

I know when I did a tour of Europe we stayed in the London base camp where they had pre-tour meetings , checked in with contiki etc.

However I have managed to get a really cheaper rate at another hotel in Auckland , which is not far from it...so i guess my question is how important is it to stay in the base hotel on the NZ Tour or even if there is one at all ????

I'm staying at the Mercure, based on I'm travelling solo, so I figured it was just easier. Which tour are you going on? I guess if you just google transport to get to the Mercure in time, it should be sweet.

There are quite a hostels and hotels close by so if you wanna crash out there, feel free.

i stayed at the mecure, and i wouldn't do it again as it was quite expensive and i didn't even meet anyone until the next morning anyway.
