Hia,
Seems like a stupid question but what do people tend to pack on these trips?? Suitcases or backpacks? I guess luggage is kept on the bus most of the time so don't need to worry about carrying it everywhere??

I, personally, prefer a suitcase because it has wheels and I can push it around instead of carrying it!

You'll have to carry or push your luggage through airports and on trains/shuttles so bear that in mind. On tour, you'll only have to move it from the bus to your room and back to the bus on departure day.

In the contiki brochure it says the size limit is 73cm X 50cm X 25cm. The suitcase I have laybuyed is 66 X 46 X 38.

Also, mine has an extra zip that allows the suitcase to expand (prob by 5 cm?) I know the contikipedia says non expanding but I don't think I will have to expand it out.

So should I change my suitcase? The sales person told me that most suitcases these days are expanding.

Is my suitcase going to be acceptable?

ShezL: Bring it ... just don't have it expanded at the beginning of the tour. Wink

Have a good trip - NZ Explorer is a blast!

Thanks. =D

I'm not planning on expanding it at all, if possible. Most of my souvenirs I'll probably post back to Australia in Queenstown. I don't actually plan on buying that many souvenirs.

There's not much to buy ... it's more of an adventure/experience tour.
