Heya,

Im a nz'er who has lived in nz for 15yrs but has never travelled the country. I have been back to europe twice but have finally decided to stay put and see the wonderful country I currently live in.

My question is whether there are many kiwi's that go on these tours or would I turn out to be the werido that nobody speaks too? I want to do a tour as I love meeting new people and it takes heaps of hassle away when somebody organises travel + accomodation for you. Any thoughts or ideas? Would love if past-travellers who went on a NZ tour could chip in some advice if possible.

Cheers guys! If worse comes to worse I can just pretend I just came over from Poland and speak half polish + broken english Wink

Most people do not tour in their own backyard, but why should that stop you? It's a relaxing way to tour your own country and you'll meet others from around the world - potential future couches dotted around this planet crash out on.

I see nothing wrong with it!

Heck most Americans (and a lot of Canadians) travel/vacation in their own country rather than go abroad. I've traveled plenty around Canada (my own country). And besides you've already been abroad! Smiler

What better way to learn more about your country and meet new people (local or travellers)? Besides you'll probably be the most popular person on tour since you'll speak the lingo. Wink

Thanks ArrylT, its nice to know somebody has a vote of confidence in me Smiler I have been thinking about it and realised that the only reason I would stand out is if I was not willing to mingle and kept to myself which wasnt a problem when I went on my europe tour this year. Although alot of my friends think im abit strange for wanting to tour NZ I think that a tour is the best way to do it for me - much less hassle, see all the important sites and off course meet new friends from all over the world Smiler

Just got to get the savings started now..

Not to mention that another benefit of a tour is that you'll see places you might never have thought of doing on your own.

Even when I do travel in a country without a tour company, I would still do day tours, be it hop on hop off or a full day tour to a specific site(s). It is just a lot more efficient & you'll be able to do more, see more & enjoy more than you could if you had to do everything on your own.

Anyways I certainly wish you all the best in your travels. I have never been to New Zealand but someday!!

I am debating the same thing?! Did you end up booking a tour? I am thinking of doing scenic south over new years!

Heya,

I have decided that im definitely going to book a tour and have a blast. Its really a mind over matter thing and I know I will have a great timer regardless. Im booking one for summer 2011, probably in late feb so its still warm and summery Smiler
