I was thinking about it for this August 2007- but I'd like opinions from those that went on it. I went on the Greek Island Hopping last August and had a blast, and wanted to know if this was just as good. Thanks!

Hey Reilly

I just got back from a Mediterranean Highlights trip in September. It was absolutely amazing. The airline even lost my luggage and the people on my tour including my tour manager and driver were great. How can you really think about something like that when your walking down the streets of Barcelona, or lying on the beach in Nice. It was my first Contiki trip and I would recomend this tour to everyone. You get just enough time to see everything you want to see. If you have anymore question feel free to ask me.

Hey graciela 22. You said that you took this tour earlier, and im thinking about booking for sept. It looks like they keep you busy during the day and see lots but hows the atmoshpere. Is it more of a party social scene aswell?

Hi alisha - On your question about atmosphere, I can offer that the average age is around 24 or 25, and it's probably younger on longer tours, and older on shorter ones (23+ have jobs).

So, there's quite some energy at the end of the day for partying and being out and about. I'm leaving on this tour (but in reverse) on June 10 -- just 2 days from now -- and we'll be out every night until the wee hours until we get to Avignon, (I hear the night scene isn't really happenin' in the City of Popes), where we'll rest and do laundry and hang out. Then it's ON again for the rest of the trip.

I don't know if a typical day is described on these boards anywhere, but I'll be trying to journal my travels and I'll let you know what's up on this tour specifically. However, this is my 3rd tour, which may speak for itself, I'm 35, and I've always spent very little time in the hotel room sleeping. The first evening most people have arrived and meet each other, and there are the beginnings of "I think this person is most my style and I'll try to hang out with him/her tomorrow in Rome" etc. And certain smaller groups form based on, for instance, my desire to see something, have a beer, see two more things, have a beer, walk across town instead of taking a cab so that we have more money for a beer after seeing the Sistine Chapel ... actually, I'm not that bad. And you see everyone at dinner and there's the "hey, what did you all do today?" and "Oh, yeah, that's right, we saw you leaving."

When we leave a city in the morning, it's often a "let's be at the bus at 8", or maybe 9, we travel on to be at the next place at a reasonable lunchtime after seeing something important, and then we arrive in the new city at maybe 3 or 4, where we can wander about to get a good feel for where we'll be going later that night, nap, shower, or sit and have a beer 2 blocks from the hotel and talk to all the guys about the girls on the trip. Or maybe that's just me ;-) We include local women walking about, as well. Guys are guys, you know.

The breakfasts are light (I hope you aren't used to eggs and do like yogurt), and the bus is really fun, even though you probably don't imagine sitting around for hours can be. The bus drivers by law can't drive for more than X hours a day, and are required to have breaks, so we stop at roadside places and ... I usually split a beer with whomever is thirsty.
