Hi Carla

Yep will definitely be on this tour!  My hubby and I arrive in Rome on the 20th as we are doing a few days travel before the tour starts.  This is my second contiki so am really looking forward to meeting a new bunch of fantastic people!

Hi Kendall,

I just bought my ticket today - so I am on the Reverse tour and will be in Rome a day earlier.  Are you going to be in a day early?

Lisa

Hi to both Lisa & Roxy

Great to hear from others on this tour (or hoping to do this tour)!  Its under 2 months now so starting to get more excited about our tour!
We will be in Rome a day early so if time permits (not entirely sure what we have planned yet) it would be great to catch up before the tour kicks off!

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Roxy hope you are able to book this tour!

Hi everyone.

Me and my best friend just booked the Med Highlights Reverse tour this morning.  So excited Smiler  We are from N.Y. and cant wait to go, we already bought some books about the best things to do in Rome and Madrid.    Can't wait to meet everyone!

Did anyone else hear that Rome was a "ghost town"  the month of August, I read that in the guide book, I'm hoping that it was an exageration!    Anyway hope to talk soon.

Layla

Hi Layla (and everyone else),

Glad to have you on board ! Wink I have read that its high season during July and August. According to the lonely planet guide - "its very hot, prices are inflated, country swarms with tourists and hotels are booked out". Not sure how true this is but eitherway I'm glad we are on the tour. The only point may be that the Italians them selves might not be around as they like to getaway from Italy.

I get there on the 19th of August and hope to book in to the same place that we will be staying with on the tour.

I think a few of us get there early and may meet up before hand.

Let me know if you?re getting there early. I would also love to hear what everyone is planning to do on the first 2 days in Rome.

Less than 2 months away... Exciting!!!

Cheers
Chami

hi kenny,

i'm trying to work on the flight schedule right now for this trip.  it's a little bit complicated.  i'm from LA but have to be in Boston for a wedding on 8/13.  My plan is to fly to Boston stay a few days after wedding then fly to London to stay another few days w/ family then fly into Rome and catch the tour.  I hope i can make all of the necessary arrangements.  I'll keep you posted.

hi Chami!

good to hear from you as well.  You will absolutely love the trip.  I went on Euro Disc. last year and had a great time i'm coming back for more!!!! As i mentioned to Kenny, i'm working on the flight schedule right now to arrange this trip so hopefully i will know for sure in the next couple days the situation.  As far as this being your first Contiki trip no worries you will have the best time of your life.  The people are very nice & i'm still in touch w/ them from last year.  They wish they were coming w/ me on this trip!  You will have loads of fun.

Take care,
Roxy

Hi Layla

Great to hear from you!  It's good to start hearing from more people now that the tour is getting closer.  I know what you mean about buying up books on places...my lonely planet guides for Rome and Madrid are already to go.

In terms of Rome being a "ghost town" in August I don't think we have to worry as all of the tourist areas remain open at this time so hopefully there won't be an issue.  I'm sure the last time I was in Rome it was August and I didn't notice any "ghost town" type feeling.

Look forward to meeting you both!

Kendall

Hi Roxy

Hope everything works out so that you can join us on this tour.  Sounds like August will be a busy month for you!  In regard to your comment to Chami about previous Contiki trips I know what you mean.  I did a London to Athens tour back in 2002 and had an absolute ball.  I am still in touch with a number of people from that trip.  I'm sure this trip will be just as fantastic.

Look forward to hearing that you managed to get all your flight plans to work!

Hey everone,

Great to see a lot of activity for this tour.  I just signed up yesterday and it sounds like fun.  It's my first Contiki tour as well and it would be great to meet up with y'all before the tour actually starts.  I'm coming in on the 20th as well.

By the way, I've heard the same thing about Europe being dead in August.  Don't worry though, we'll liven it up!

Hey Chami & Marvin and whoever is landing a day early.....

I've had to change my ticket and will not be arriving until noonish on the 21st now.  So no day early sight seeing for me.  I had committed to being a paddler on our Dragon Boat Racing Team for work and I have to paddle on the Saturday and well then's the party on the Saturday Smiler

That's normal - when the tourists come, the locals run.  They are busy touring Canada, US and Australia and wondering where we all went Smiler

Btw, Chami I saw a clip on TV regarding that Tomato Festival - what a mess - but it would be a riot none the less.   My advice - not a day to be wearing white..........
