Hey! I'm planning on doing GS May 27. Just wondering if there is anyone else thinking of doing this tour? I'm travelling solo (pretty nervous) and would love to get to know other people before the tour starts.

cheers!!

Hey Mellie, I'm actually doing the same as Nikki - the Grand Northern on 30th April beforehand. I wanted to do Canada and the Rockies also but I won't have time, and it'll probably be 'tour overload' - the Grand Northern spends practically a week in Eastern Canada anyway so I still get to see Canada, and the top part of the States also! Smiler

Hi Todd,
I was actually going 2 go on the Rockies tour as well but opted 4 the GN instead. 2 months in USA is gonna be awesome! I'm planning 2 arrive in NYC a couple of days b4 the tour. I'll be needing the extra days rest and site seeing as I'll be driving to Broome and getting the plane to Melbourne then off 2 USA. Big Grin

Awesome. How far do you live from Broome? I live about 40-45 minutes from Melbourne airport.

Hey Todd, I live in Derby 220kms from Broome. I just got contiki 2 book my flights on qantas from Melbourne 2 NYC. So I'm planning 2 drive 2 Broome and get a flight from Broome to Melbourne direct (the day before my flight 2 US). Smiler

Hi Mel,

I'm getting contiki 2 book my accommodation in LA. the GN tour finishes on the 24th May and then we start the GS on the 27th, so 3 nights in LA. Smiler

Do you reckon 2 days will be enough time to see the sights in LA? I'm figuring one day I would spend seeing Hollywood, etc., and the other day I would spend at Disneyland? If need be, I could always stop off in LA again before I come home, if I feel I haven't seen everything.

Also, re. the accommodation... I've done a bit of researching of prices on the net... and I've found that Contiki's "deals" with their hotels are nothing special.... especially in New York... I've found some hotels that are way nicer and are actually cheaper... I'm so glad I did some research myself before booking them in... I'm gonna go look at LA hotels now. Smiler

OK so on some further research, it appears the Contiki rate in LA at Kyoto Grand Hotel is pretty good... I'm just tossing up whether I wanna splash some more cash on a place like the Sofitel, which is ~$100 extra per night, but no doubt a much nicer hotel.... hmm, decisions, decisions.... Smiler

I still reckon a much better deal could be had in New York than what Contiki is offering with the Skyline Hotel. Wink
