Hey Luke,
I just got back from the Grand Southern going from LA-NY. I'm not sure if it really makes a difference in what way you go, but I really enjoyed starting out on the West Coast. It was great to have Vegas as the first stop, as it was a great place to meet everyone and get to know the people on tour. The whole tour was AMAZING, and I'm sure you'll have a great time. Make sure you don't miss the hot air balloon in Albuquerque- it was awesome. If there's one thing to pass up, and you need a sleep in, I probably would have passed on the Trolly Tour in Savannah. If you're up for nightlife, be sure you're well rested for Texas (Dallas and Amarillo), Memphis (Beale Street), New Orleans (Bourbon Street), and of course Vegas and NY. If partying isn't your thing, or you're not up to it, there's always other stuff to do as well. All of the hotels are pretty well located as well. Have fun! |

Hey gig08
Cheers for the little review. I've got a question for you that I'm not really worried about the answer to - just curiosity. I want to take my laptop with me when I go (I'm staying on for a month after my Grand Southern so I want to be able to keep in touch conveniently, check schedules etc) but I was wondering how secure you found the accommodation? I.e. would I be right to leave my laptop in my luggage when going out at night, etc? Cheers Adrian |

Adrian there were people on my Grand Northern tour who had just done the Southern who took their laptops and they had no worries with them. I'm looking at doing the Southern myself in 2009 and will take my laptop with me.

I am planning on doing the grand southern around september 09, can anyone tell me on average per day is spent travelling on the bus? Also how many people share a room? and how many people do you travel with on the buses? Looking on some of the other posts, some of the tours kind of seem like 18-30s holidays with lots of drinking and playing games. Im not really into anything like that im awful with hangover lol.
what are all your experiences of the tour? |

hi all i leave in 5 days to fly to NY to start the grand southern, i decided to start from NY as it worked better 4 me and i thought the idea of finishing in vegas would be more fun as every 1 will know each other by then and also a good way to finish things off! also to get home from LA will be easier and closer 4 me as LA is closer to australia. hope this helps

Hi Lorelei Lee,
I have not long been back from the Grand Southern & had a awesome time. Your travelling time on the bus can vary sometimes a full day but with stops in between for toilet breaks, lunch break etc. But there is always something happening on the bus whether it was a DVd or weird & wonderful games being played or just having some R & R time. Room sharing is 2 per room unless you pay the extra *& go a room on your own. I did that for a while but found it a bit lonely at times but other dsys I liked it for the peace & quiet. Average your spending to bout $100.00 a day just for lunch drinks and if you see lil pressies to buy, budget moe if your a drinker and party person. Hope this helps you in a little way. Oh by the way have fun and enjoy. Trust me you will have a blast. Lots of memories. Lisa Lisa |
