Razzer Hiya!

I'm looking at doing the Grand Southern hopefully in August '08' & would be great to hear from anyone else looking to do this tour at this time. also wondered what the weather was like in USA @ that time of year & what sort of things to pack and last of all for the moment any way what is the weight you are allowed for your suitcase.

Cheers

There's a bunch of us in this thread - http://connect.contiki.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/419105522/m/320103713 - who are doing the Grand Southern in August (note there's two different departure dates that month).

Max weight for your suitcase is 20kg, although it's apparently not as strictly enforced as the airlines.

Hiya Again Wink,

I have decided on the tour dates of Aug. 16, 2008 Sep. 08, 2008. I am travelling alone but this is my 4th Contiki tour. So very use to the craziness that is Contiki. Would like to hear from anyone doing this tour as I was wondering what season it is at that time of year, to have a idea of what to pack. just ova 7 mths to go. can't wait. Look forward to hearing from you.

Yeh I hope it's good choice of dates and that there are a fair few people going on this tour. Wish I could go earlier. So what season is it that time of year? Oh what to pack. Arghhh all these things to remember to do

It'll be late summer, early autumn/fall.

As an example, the average temperature last year in August at the Grand Canyon was around min 10C max 30C.

Sounds like shorts & t-shirts during the day, and jeans & possibly long sleeves at night for us guys.

Might take a light jacket as well but doesn't sound like I'll need anything much warmer (too bulky anyway). Can always buy them over there.
