Hey all!

My husband and I are considering taking the Contiki Berlin to Budapest tour in September, and I was wondering if anyone here has taken it, or if anyone is considering going.

This will be our 2nd tour in Europe, but our 1st tour with people our own age. I am really excited to meet new people and to hang out in a new country, or 4!

Hit me up!

L.

Yes, I went on this tour and absolutely loved it. All the places we stoped at were amazing. I loved having a lot of free time to explore. Know what you want to see before you go. There is a lot of free time on this tour. I would recomend spending extra day in Budapest at the end. Have a great time!

Hi!! I am also thinking of taking the Berlin to Budapest tour in September, I am gunna go it solo though and am a bit nervous / anxious / excited. I travel alone all the time for work, but have never gone out on my own for leisure, plus, Im so worried about being the oldie on the bus!ha, Im 27, but would feel like an old hag if everyone else was a budding 18 year old!ha; does anyone have any info on this that may ease my mind? My friends are hardly the "world traveller" so everytime im in dire need for some culture change I end up having to physically drag or bribe someone to come with me...literally! I think being able to get out and meet new, like-minded people would be awesome, is this the trip for me??
Thanks for any post!!
C

Explorer1107377,
Trust me, you will not be the oldie on the bus. This tour tends to attract older travelers. Or at least my tour had a lot of late 20s early 30s. We had one guy who was 37. But really, everyone got along so well.
Contiki is a great way to meet like minded people. You will love it.

Hey Curleee!

Did you book the September 26th trip? That is the one that we are on. Don’t worry about being an oldie at 27. We are both 29 so I guess we will claim the ancient title Roll Eyes.

Hi Simon!
I wish I was booked on it!!!!! but I missed the cut off, I think it was July 25 or sumthin like that. Im soooo disapointed =(
I hope you guys have a fantastic trip tho! Please let me know what it was like when you get back, hopefully I'll be able to book one next time around, any later than October is kinda pushing it weather wise, so I think i'll hold off, but next year for sure.
Take care!!!

Hey Curleee...

I just booked my trip for Sept 26th - Oct 7th today, so there should still be availability if you're still interested!

I'm 27 as well and going solo. More than half the group were solo on my last trip and we all had a great time together.

Awesome sights on a trip like this and yes, definitely take an extra day or two in Budapest if you can, amazing city I thought. If you can do a Rhine cruise there at night, do it. The city really lights up and is so pretty.

Ahhhh, the memories...

Hey guys, I'm signed up for the sept. 26th tour as well, spending a week before in Amsterdam though. Anybody else have a week to kill before? I'm headed over with work on the 19th, so got some time to kill before the tour starts.

I'm thinking of taking this tour on January 2. Is that time of year too cold? If anyone else has gone on this tour, please let me know. I've heard horror stories as well as great reviews of Contiki, in general, but haven't heard too much about this tour. The usual complaints are that the hotels are too far from the actual cities and bad tour guides.

I'm looking at this trip too, although the second january trip. its gonna be cold according to this site: http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0004587.html

At freezing during the day and below at night. But that depends on if you find that cold. That will be about the same for me since I'm coming from wisconsin. maybe even a bit warmer. But just bundle up and it wont be a problem. Plus seeing those citites covered in snow will be pretty neat I think

Yeah the hotels are away from the city in most cases, but this is how they save money. not a big deal really, just take a cab in and out. It'll be too damn cold to walk anywhere so you're better off in a cab. Most people on the tour all go in and out together so it is safe and relatively cheap. Just dont piss off the cab drivers.

And the tour guides can make or break a tour for sure, but there is nothing you can do to control that. i've been on 2 and both guides rocked. One is scheduled for a Jan trip, although she does not know which one yet.

Will Contiki tell us before the trip who the tour guide will be?

I just wrote to my last tour manager... she said that they do not get assigned to a trip until just a few days prior. So i guess we cant book with a specific TM in mind.
