I did a lot of the optinals and I probably spent about 500 euros on them. There were some people who did every optional and probably spent well over 600 euros and there were also some people that only did a few.
The ones that I really liked were the Moulin Rouge (It is over 100 euros though), river rafting, gondala ride, georges boat, Mt Pilatus and the canal cruise in Amsterdam (it's on the last night so it is kind of a farewell activity). Out of the ones that I did those were my favourites.
There were no optinals that I did that I really didn't like, I just enjoyed some more then others.
I did not do the dinner/show in Spain, the Mozart concert, the lunch in Switzerland and the swarorski crystal museum.

I did the panorama in June/July 2008 (middle of summer). It was a blast, and i would recommend it to anyone. In fact two of my friends are doing that trip in april/may next year.
I did most of the optionals too. Moulin Rouge, Space Disco, Pompeii and George's Boat were the best. All well worth it! I didn't do the fondue lunch and the mozart dinner. Though some of the optiionals have changed since i did this tour.
As for budgeting.....I budgeted for all of them. That way when you get on the tour you don't have to worry about which ones you decide to do. Inevitably what happens is you do the ones that everyone else decides to do. And it also means that if you decide to not do a couple, its some extra cash for you!
