Hey yall.

I just booked a European Magic tour in April and I booked it for the following reasons- I wanted to go to Europe, I dont speak any other languages than English, I didnt want to plan out my whole itinerary myself, and I wanted to be safe.

But Im NOT a huge partier- this is a college graduation present to myself and I want to take in the culture and all the trip has to offer. I love people, dont get me wrong, but I dont want the majority of my trip to be ruined by being tired and hungover/throwing up and headaches and nausiousness on a bus. EW.

I really am a cool person. I cant wait to get into AMSTERDAM and party in the COFFEE SHOPS but I dread people coming into my hotel room when Im trying to sleep and keeping me up all night. Is it really like that--- is there a lot of partying in the hotel rooms- were the people you roomed with generally respectful of you???

Hi there! I did a european contiki a couple of years ago when I was 19, and am doing another one very soon. I had a fabulous time on my first contiki, and would not by any means classify myself as a big time party animal! There was usually the option of going out with the group after dinner, but you could stay in for the night if you liked. Even if you go out after dinner, the bus usually comes back at a reasonable hour (midnight) to collect, and you can still stay on longer if you like. I don't really know of much room partying going on, but I guess it depends on your group and your roommate. Sometimes there would be card games or such in rooms, but generally they were just for sleeping! I know Contiki has this reputation, but there's always a mix of personalities on the tour and bound to be other like minded individuals. And there's always room to have a balance between social and cultural aspects. I think you'll be fine! If anything, the tour just made me more confident with mixing with a variety of people!

also, keep in mind that if you get stuck with a total party animal, you might be able to find somebody willing to switch roommates. A few people did that on my tours, not a big deal.

Oh, and there was not a lot of room partying on my trips mostly because there was no easy way to get a bottle of boozed to even take to a room. Most hotels had a bar so thats where everybody went.

Girls kept wanting to come into our room and "party" with me and my boy all the time. After awhile it was like "ladies, please let a guy get a little rest" but nope they just would'nt let up. Good times.

I'm not a partier either, and I had a great time. I was camping so it was a bit harder to avoid the noise when people stumbled back drunk, but it never went on for long enough to be a real issue.
Like people have already said, it can depend on who your room mate is.

i went on a trip recently and it does depend on your group but our group definetly was a party group! only a few stayed home but its so worth it!! experience of a lifetime (as ryan says)

i am not a partyer either really. i like to go out and dance and have like 1 drink. my group was a good mix..most of us would go out for a bit and then head home and get a good nights sleep for the next day. I would not worry!
