Hi All

I am doing the Grand Southern tour next year and plan on getting to LA a few days before the tour starts. My friend and I want to spend one night in Hollywood just for the experience and to do one of the star tours.
I am curious to know the options available to travel between Hollywood to Anaheim. I know they are about an hour apart. I did a search of other posts but cant seem to find any advice.
Any and all tips would be so appreciated!

Cheers

I took the super shuttle from my hotel in LA to the airport and another shuttle back out to Anaheim. It cost me about $35 to do that.

You could also try get a private car to transfer you but who knows what that would cost.

Maybe grayline have a bus service?

Hi, I'm not sure if its what you're after, but I booked a Hollywood Stars tour that departs Anaheim - http://graylineanaheim.com/sightseeing_tours.cfm

hey,

i just logged on to ask a very similar question!!

i have already organised a private car transfer between the airport and anaheim, however i have booked tickets for a LA lakers basketball game in Los Angeles, and its at 6,30 on a sunday night i think. i am not sure how to get there and home. someone suggested a cab, that would be fine to get there, but after thousands of people have left the stadium i think my chances of gettin a cab would be very slim!!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Katie

Katie...a cab from LA to Anaheim will easily run you about $100. I took Amtrak several times when I was there last month, I think it was about $24 round trip, just watch because they don't run very late. I also suggest super shuttle. You just have to have them pick you up/drop you off at any arriving gate at LAX, then you can take a cab from there. Just make sure you have reservations.

I made the mistake of staying in Santa Monica for the first night when i arrived and then had to get from there to Anaheim to start the Wild Western Tour. There were no local buses and the only cheap option was to get back to the airport on a shuttle and then catch another shuttle back out to Anaheim. In the end i booked a taxi which cost £100.

My advice would be stay in Anaheim and try to book day tours from there or use the local buses to get to Hollywood (about 1 hour away) and then join a day tour. From memory Hollywood isn't that nice an area to stay in (all the famous bits are in a pretty dodgy area).

Hope that helps

You could also hire a car from the airport when you arrive, and then drop the car off at the one of the depots in anaheim (some of which are right near the start hotel).

You may have to pay a one way fee but it means you can go anywhere in LA (i did this a 2 years ago and it work great, but dont forget to book a sat nav).

Hey

yeh i would love to hire a car, but ill only be 20, and i have to be older to hire a car in america!

does anyone know how good the train system is in LA, would it be ok to catch a train to and from anaheim to los angeles for the basketball? ie leave in the afternoon, and get back to anaheim at night? im just a bit worried that the train system might be dodgy at night...

coz i really want to go the basketball, only thing holding me back is how to get to the Staples Centre and back!

Thanks!

Southern California's public transportation system is next to non-existent. Your best bet is Amtrak, or taking a taxi from the game to the aiport then the super shuttle from the airport to the hotel and vice versa.

Check out Anaheim California Hotels, they list some good transportation options that they explain pretty well.

Also, if you cant find any good transportation options there, try looking at Anaheim CA.

Hope this helps!

we did the same thing. we were in anehiem and then stayed at santa monica and taxis are expensive. we organised a shuttle bus to the airport and another one with a different company back to santa monica. they will ask for flight detail prob we just made some up got dropped at qantas departures n u just walk down some stairs to arrivals and get another shuttle from there

Your best bet is using the Super Shuttle or renting a car. Check this website on Anaheim Hotels because it recommends different types of transportation, rental cars, discount Anaheim Hotels, etc.
