I noticed that last time I was in Melbounre 7 11's, Starucks and McDonalds all over the place in the city centre.

Thanks Bel! I will try something at In & Out Burger if I get a chance!

Good to know we arent the only ones Brindabella. I am the same I cant wait to try all the real american food you always see in the movies and tv shows. It may have just been me but I am sure coke tastes different there than it does here. Not bad or anything just different. There is a shop here where I can get american candy, cherry coke, dr pepper and pop tarts which is awesome. they dont have lots of pop tart flavours but still cool. Its all pretty expensive though!

Thanks Alyssa I will keep an eye out for a Tim's coffee shop when I am in Canada! I am so excited about getting to see some of Canada as well! That sould be awesome

Hey Taz, we should be able to get In and Out on our first day, might be at the first place the bus stops. It is really quite good, plus you see them making their own chips out back.
If you like beer Taz it's nicer in Canada.

You know what else i loved when i was in the states ? we went to Maccas at 1.30am one morning had had a choc mint mudshake, was UNBELEIVABLE....as im a choc mint freak. When we got back to Aust, a few months later we had something similar but it really wasnt as good.

Oh my godders, chic mint mudshake?! That sounds unreal! I can't wait tos ee how different the menus are in Maccas in America and all the enw and different stuff I could get. You never know, depending on how finances go I could be eating a lot of Maccas, as that'd probably be the cheapest thing to eat!

I have a few stores around Perth where I can buy American type food too, and English, but yeah as you say, I don't want to pay $12 for a packet of poptarts. I figure they'll be a dime a dozen in America, and I just want to save myself anyways. If I buy them here and eat them before I go then they won't be this cool novelty when I eat them in America.

Actually Taco Bell is the best place to eat for cheap. :-)

Ya I thought the portions here were big...there everything is bigger.

My husband and I once went to "The Bubba Gump Shrimp Factory" in NYC, and my plate was the same size of a serving platter I own, and it was COVERED side to side, top to bottom in mashed potatoes. There must have been 5-6 large potatoes on my plate. It was disgusting.

You know, I noticed that in Europe too. Even when we went off of the beaten path, the restaurants all had "fries"..... I think it's a global staple.

I watched a Food Safari show on American Food. It was the best. They showed some really great food. I am so dying to eat in a cute american diner like you see in the movies! Very touristy I know but I think it would be fun

Well if you're down in Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth specifically), be sure to try some Aligator tail. It's actually pretty good since they use all the cajun spices and everything.

If you're up in Calgary during Stampede (July sometime) you can probably find yourself some prairie oysters(deep fried bull or buffalo testicles) without too much trouble. Dunno what they're like, I've never had them, nor will I ever try them....but if weird food is your thing, go for it.
