Hey All

My trip is getting closer and closer and I am so stoked to get back to the states... just for a bit of fun I was wondering whats the craziest food you have heard of or eaten when you where in America?

I recently heard of a luther burger which is apprently a double cheese burger with bacon and you use crispy creme original glaze doughnuts as the bun Eeker

Cheers

Hey MJ

What is a cheese curd? Twinkies have cream in the middle right?
Aussie are starting to do lots of deep friend things as well. I know we do a deep friend mars bar but I havent tried that one.

I love American food! It just covers everything you could think of! Smiler

Hey Tazzie, i'm not sure if you will find this but at the Calgary Stampede i'm going to try some deep fried coke.Plus they have pizza on a stick. Plus up in Quebec and Montreal they have putine which is french fries, gravy and cottage cheese I think. It was quite yummy.
After a friday after works drinks once I was a little bit happy and hadn't had dinner so went to the fish n chip shop and I got myself a deep fried mars bar. Was very nice but I think I could only eat one a year.

Wait!! Deep Fried Coke!! How is that possible??
Pizza on a stick? hhmm sounds interesting. I want to try one of the huge slices of pizza you always seem people eating in new york.
hhmm I think I am not sure about the combination of fries, gravy and cottage cheese. I like them all seperately but not together!

The New York pizza is fantastic, i'll be getting me some for sure. I think the deep fry the frozen coke like you can deep fry ice cream but I guess i'll find out when I get there.
You'll have to try the putine, I wasn't to keen when I was told about it but it really is quite good, I could be wrong about it being cottage cheese but it was some sort of soft cheese I normally wouldn't want to eat but you have to try this sort of thing when you get the chance.

Poutine is Amazing! you can get it pretty well anywhere here, only the good places do it right and use Curds though.

For those who don't know, a Cheese Curd is fresh cheese, they just don't put it through the press to make it into a block.

Deep Fried Coke is actually a Texas invention, gotta give them props for being one of the craziest places as far as deep frying goes.
What they do is they take Coke flavored batter and deep fry it in little balls, normally they serve it with more Coke syrup poured on-top with whipped cream and cinnamon!

If you are in the Ottawa area you need to try a Beaver Tail, you can find them outside Ottawa in Montreal and Southern Ontario, but they are more well known in the Ottawa area, its a pastry though haha not an actual beavers tail. Topped with everything from Cinnamon to Banana's and Chocolate.

There is so much food in the US its not funny. Every city usually has its own specialties.

Deep Fried Twinkies are at Mermaids in Vegas. You will probably go there because they are known for their huge frozen drinks.

If your heading to New Orleans you have to drink a Hand Grenade. They are awesome! (hell i blacked out after mine!) When in Memphis you have to go to Rendezvous, best ribs ever!!!

and if in New Mexico, anything with Green Chillies when in season is fantastic!

Also in Arizona there is something called a Navajo (Navaho) taco. Its fried flat bread with meat, beans, luttice, cheese, tomatoes ect. Or you can eat it just the bread butter, honey and powdered sugar. You can get in Flagstaff, Cameron and GC areas. Its a local food and is awesome. Blue corn is also fantastic.

Another Mexico/Az food is a chocolate sauce called Mole (moley) you put on meat or on encheladas. Try it if you like chocoalte. Has a slight peanut flavor but is made with chocolate and chili powder. Roasted corn on the husk is great too.

And yes Tassie the twinkies have cream. Smiler And a shelf life longer than uranium. LOL

Hi All,

I came across a pickle vender at Sea World in San Diego and I thought it was the strangest thing! There was this huge jar full of pickles and they just shove it on a stick like a dagwood dog, it didn't look very appealing to me and it probably doesn't sound weird to anyone else but we don't have them like that in Australia! the only place iv seen pickles is cut up on my maccas burger lol

This all sounds pretty good guys! Keep it coming.
Thanks MJ that sauce sounds pretty cool. I am going to enjoy trying new and different things in the states. All part of the fun.

A pickle vendor! haha thats pretty cool. I have seen pickles in a jar here but nothing big enough to put on a stick! I will have to keep an eye out for that in San Diego

Thanks Christoff, I will get to spend a few days in Canada so look forward to trying some yummy things there as well

Thanks alyssa! I had a slurpee when I was there last time. It was a cherry one and sssoo good. I can only get either frozen coke or frozen raspberry here so I am looking forward to having a cherry slurpee Smiler
