Hi, I am travelling from NZ to LA then onto London so will have two lots of luggage and am wondering where to store it while i am on the Western Highlights tour. Im also doing the LA Explorer and will be staying at the Kyoto Grand hotel. Does anyoe know if they will store my suitcase for 8 days? Or do i need to arrange to get it to Stovalls Inn before i leave? Any help advise would be much appreciate Thanks
Are you taking two "separate" sets of luggage? That is going to cost you a fortune in excess baggage! You will only be allowed to check-in one suitcase (probably 30kgs since you are stopping in the US) but any others will be classed as exccess.
I'm sure the Kyoto will be able store your luggage for you but I suspect they may charge a fee. If you're not going back to the Kyoto Grand then I would take your luggage with you.
The allowance in and out of the US is 2 pieces (bags) of 23kg each..but that is for the flight only not the Contiki Tour which only allows 1 bag, and you wont be able to take another bag to the UK without giving up your first born to cover excess baggage!! How long are you away for??
I am going to UK to work and live for a year or two. I thought you can take approx 40kg and have two items of luggage checked in if you are going through LA? I guess i will have to check with my travel agent. So going into UK you can only have one item of luggage?? But arriving and leaving LA you can have two?? Thats crappy I was just hoping i could store my suitcase and take my back pack on the contiki, collect the suitcase and head off to London. Now i am abit worried.
Check with your specific airline for their baggage rules.
You might want to look into shipping stuff to the UK from home. It might be cheaper then excess baggage and certainly can be easier then taking 2 suitcases.
