The Ny-LA route is not as popular and sometimes gets cancelled so it would be at your risk. I did LA-NY is summer and it was a blast cuz all the full on stuff was at the beginning and the 2nd half was a lot more relaxing.
cheers lisa |

LOL that does sound good but hey I take the party with me wherever i go
It would be cool no matter which way you travel I reckon |

I think Vegas would be a great first stop city for a tour. With all that goes on it's a really good way for the group to bond. Plus having New York as the final stop would be better than Anaheim.

Hey Pervy why is New York better as a final stop rather then Anaheim???

Hey
I think NY is a way better stop than Anaheim because aneheim only has theme parks where as NY as everything! You will not get bored in NY – there is a million things to do! I loved finishing in NY because the feeling that you have just crossed the united states and are now in the big apple is amazing! I can’t think of a better way to end a tour! Cheers Lisa |

New York is just an amazing city with so many different things to see and do and Anaheim is ok, don't get me wrong but I just like NYC better. Disney in Anaheim does rock though. Plus if you want to see other things in the LA area you have to do way more travel to get to places. I stayed in Anaheim before doing the Wild Western and did tour to Universal Studios and it took about an hour each way. Was a fun day though but if we missed the bus back to Anaheim we would have been stuffed. I do know that some people after tours move to Hollywood and spend some time there.
Plus what Lisa said too. |

Yeah that is good advice!!!
I want to spend some time in Hollywood and so some tours around there!! I have never been to NY but I have a few days inbetween tours like the GS ends and then about 4 days later the GN starts so I will have a chance to look around. Anything I really should see?? |

Thanks so much for all the cool advice! its awesome to be able to speak to people that have done these tours before and been to these places.
How is combining tours? is this common to do two tours? one after the other with a few days break between? |

Hey Tazzie, yes it's very common. Just to give you an idea here are what some of the people from my Grand Northern did.Grand Northern is a combination of 3 tours. North by North East(NY to Chicago) Northern Escape(Chaicago to Anaheim) plus the first part of the Grand Canadian(NY to Toronto) The Southern is also two tours. Southern Adventure(La to New Orleans) and Eastern Discovery(New Orleans to NY)
1 person did the Wild Western then North by North East 2 sisters did North by North East then flew to Vegas and started the Western Highlights Another 2 sisters did Eastern Discovery then Big Apple Explorer then North by North East There were about 4 people who did the Southern/Northern back to back but by the end of the Northern they were a bit over all the travel and living out of a suit case. 1 girl did Eastern Discovery then Grand Northern. 1 girl did the Northern Escape then the Southern. I think doing back to back tours is a good idea. Saves money as you only need 1 airfare not the 2 that i've had to pay for to do the Wild Western and the Northern, plus i'll have another when I do the southern(make sence)Thats about $5000 all up for airfares for 3 return flights from Auckland to LA. I'm still thinking of another Grand Northern story to tell. |

Thanks heaps Pervy thats great!
It does make more sense to make the most of it while you are there! Now to choose which tour to add on after the Grand Southern LOL at least I will have lots of time to plan while I save save save |

Thanks for the great advice!!
Your true living out of a suitcase is going to be hard!! But I think I can do it!! Well I am going to anyway!! I want to see as much as USA as possible so that is one way to do it. Its good to hear that other people do it too!! It will be good to have some familiar faces on the GN or I could be all by myself with a whole lot of new people. |

I'd do the North by North East or fly back to LA and do LA to the Bay or Wild Western.
I looked at my "Travel Fund" bank account today and so far i've got $5275 saved. Oh on doing the Southern/Northern back to back you usually have the same bus driver and tour driver for both tours. |

It is very common for people to do back to back tours..
i did the Grand Southern than the Big Apple Explorer than the Grand Canadian all back to back...was better to do them all at once than to have to do the long flight from aus to US too many times... This year i'm doing the Grand Northern than the Wild Western back to back and can't wait.. People on my GS tour did more than 1 tour too... 1 person did GS and GN together and stayed in vegas longer instead of going back to LA 5 of us did the BAE after the GS 5 of us headed on the same bus as the GN to do the North by north east and me the grand canadian ** USA Grand Northern Sep 12 - Oct 5 2008** ** USA Wild Western Oct 8 - Oct 21 2008** ** NZ Grand Explorer Oct 29 - Nov 12 2008** * USA Grand Southern July 2007 * * USA Big Apple Explorer August 2007 * * USA/CA Grand Canadian August 2007 * |

thats great! yeah its a long trip thats for sure. I got total jetlag last time I made the trip!
I might have to get to saving harder and be brave and do the GS and then GN. I think I could handle it! |
