Hey, Just trying to book my trip for the WW, and was wondering to those of you who have been how much of LA you get to see?
On the last day, it says about the walk of fame and hollywood sign, but do you actually get to walk down the walk of fame? Or is it a quick drive past?
Not sure whether i need a day where i can do these, or whether its pointless cause its already included.

Thanks

I did WW 3 years ago. We spent quite a few hours walking about to see the walk of fame, Kodak Theatre, and Mann's Chinese Theatre. Drove through Beverly Hills, down Rodeo Drive and along Sunset Blvd. Then we stopped in at Venice Beach, and headed back to Anaheim.
I personally thought it was enough time in LA. I also did a day tour out of Anaheim to LA - got a better picture of the Hollywood sign and then went to a Beverly Hills mall for some shopping. On this same trip you could do Universal Studios.

Thanks, that helps my choice. Was originally only doing the western highlights which ends in Vegas, so was gonna so few nights before hand staying in Hollywood, but am now doing WW and noticed you get the LA bit at the end.
I'm staying in Anahiem for a couple of nights before, was gonna try Universal from there, and maybe Newport Beach as well.
Wasnt sure whether to add a day in LA but I don't think I will now.

Cheers :-)

Cheers for the heads up!! Probs gonna be my 1st or 2nd day there, so i'm not gonna be too aware of everything just yet. Is there a train station in Anaheim?
Was Newport worth going to? I'm a fan of The OC, so would love to see the pier and crab shack etc, or is it not anything special?

Hey Corinne, there is a train station in Anaheim. It's down near the baseball stadium which is a little way from the Contiki hotel but there are buses to get from there to the hotel.

Most of the stuff filmed for the OC apparently wasn't at the real Newport Beach. I was a little disappointed when I got there but it's still a really nice beach, and there were some nice stores around and a great bar/restaurant at the end of the pier.

Southern California Gray Line tours do "the OC experience" - might be a good way to do it. Looks like you see more than I did Smiler

Cheers Pervy. Have you used the trains at all? I've read in a few posts that you get some shady looking characters on them?

Thank you Bel81. Does the hotel like have a list of tours etc that you can arrange through them then? I don't want to plan too far in advance, cause I'm not sure how jet lagged I will be, and it would be nice to meet other people on the tour and go with the flow, so i just thought the Beach would be great to just relax, so why not go to Newport!!

I'm so excited about my trip!

Hey Corinne !
I went to Newport Beach/Laguna and Huntington Beach when i was there last and LOVED it.... was so unreal. Anyway thought i would post this for you from a previous post that i wrote on

when we were in Anaheim before the tour we got a bus tour down to all the beaches as in Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach, was a great tour, the name of the tour was Orange County Beach Bus Tour, it was $39.00 per person round trip for the day. Very good tour, we were actually the only 2 people on the bus (it seats about 15-20 people) and the tour guide was unreal. He had a real New Yorker accent and told funny stories. He really looked after us and the best thing was he had a sign in the bus saying he didnt expect a tip, but we tipped him anyway. Their website is www.AnaheimTourCo.com

Hope that helps you !!! you def wont regret going to these places, very different to Anaheim/La

Hi again Corinne, no I haven't used the trains but I plan to this time when i'm there. Will be getting one from LA out to Anaheim. There are two types of trains you can use. The local one which doesn't cost to much or Amtrak(which I have to take) which costs about $17 USD and I read somewhere that there is usually a shuttle bus from the Anaheim train station down to the Disney area hotels that meets up with the Amtrak trains.

Mel- That tour sounds brilliant, did you book before you arrived? Or just find it once you got there? I'll have a little look on the website though. Would be nice to see all 3 of those places.

Cassie- I'm going in August. I will arrive and have 3 nights before the tour, so ill probably do beach one day and universal the other, and a few of us have already decided to go to disney after the tour, where i have 2 nights. All at the Anaheim hotel.

Pervy- Thanks :-) I'm gonna get the shuttle from the airport, but may just use the amtrak if i cant go on the tour above.
Have you done the WW before? Or a similar tour? I've seen you all over this forum, you seem to know a lot :-)

Yeah I did the Wild Western back in 2004, very good tour. It's changed a little with where you stay since I went but you go to some great places. The shuttle from the airport to Anaheim is the way to go.

Hey Corinne,
We just found out about the tour the day we arrived. I think it was a pretty new company at the time. The bus took us to Laguna and dropped us off there for the day but on the way he showed us Huntington Beach and Newport. Was really good seeing all the million dollar mansions ....apparently in Newport the average price of houses is $15million so you can imagine what we saw, was very good. Do you ever watch "The Hills", "Laguna Beach" or "Newport Harbour on MTV ? as all of the places you go is where they filmed all these reality shows. Out of all the places i went to in the states Laguna Beach was one of the most memorable and beautiful places. I also did LA to the Bay tour which is pretty much the same as the WW all but 2 days or so....LOVED IT !!!

Yea i do, i watch all of them, hence my love and need to go to California. The trip sounds amazing so i think that may just have to go on my to do list. I'm not over bothered about huntington, but do you reckon a short day is enough time there? Say 10-4ish? Cause we will need to be back for our pre-tour meeting.
