Benji suggested a sticky thread for underage touring in the US, so here it is.

My advice on it... If drinking is important then wait until you're 21.

You must be 21 to drink and gamble in the US, you'll need your passport as proof of age. You may be able to sneak into a couple places, but many places you will not be able to go to bars and clubs. There are some under 21 clubs which is an option and in some places the tour will not be hitting the bars in a town. Casinos in Vegas, you'll be able to get into them, look around maybe do a little gambling (they don't regularly check id's), but if you win big or look young you might have trouble.

Play it safe- if you are too young now to go the the US to legally do things, wait until you are. Head off to Europe, New Zealand or Australia where the legal age is lower. Why put you and your tour mates in jeopardy?
Just to get the full experience of it all and to not have to hope that you don't get caught being underage and then have to suffer the consequences would be enough for me to wait.

Will there be a lot of partying and drinking?
I'm planning to do the North by Northeast tour this summer and at that time I'll be 20. I like to drink once in a while, but I can survive without alcohol
Is it recommended to wait another year, because otherwise I'll miss all the fun or will there be more underaged people?

I Did the Best of USA in 2008- and i was 20 almost 21. and i got into most clubs except 2- but we were with a large group when they let us in!! was pretty good!

I just got back from LA to the Bay, there was 3 underage people on board, myself included, we didnt get into many places at all - which didnt really bother me bcoz some nights were jst chill room parties and the other nights i jst caught up on some sleep. so if your desperate to get into clubs n stuff - yeh wait till ur 21! but i loved it even tho i was 20!

I'm 20, but I don't drink here anyway, and I'm not interested in clubs/bars etc. Will I have a horrible time on the LA to the Bay (or other) tour if I skip the partying/drinking part?

I'm 20 when starting my tours [New York Explorer + Eastern Discovery] in autumn, too. Hope it won't be much of a problem to sneak into some clubs because people tell me I look quite a bit oler, but nevertheless I hope I'm not the only one underage on my tours

I was in the US for 5 weeks and had a ball. I was underage and got served every where.

My friends just got back and they were underage and got in absoulutly everywhere. They took a fake ID and then brought their student card as a back up and they were sweet. My and my friend are goin in june and will do the same thing so u wont have a porblem!

Hey guys, i did LA to the BAy back in Sept 2007, we had about 10 underage girls on our tour, they pretty much all hung out together when everybody else was in nightclubs. But mind you i think they probably made their own fun, if not had more fun, they had no probs getting their hands on alcohol at all. Dont think they got into any of the places we all did, but that didnt bother them at all - they still had the time of their lives ! there is still sooo much to do when you are underage. You can still get into the casinos in Vegas, but just cant bet or i guess get caught betting. All of the nightclubs we went to we had to show our passports, nothing else was accepted and they checked EVERYBODY'S but in saying that other clubs may accept other forms of ID, but just be mindful of the fact that the TM will enforce that you take your passport everywhere with you.Either way you guys will all have an awesome time.

I just got back from america and im only 20 and the only one out of 44 who was under the age of 21 but i was fine, i got into every pub i went to and never got asked for id. i never tried to get into the night clubs in vegas because they are apparently really strict. one of my friends used her passport as id and wasnt allowed to be served she had to have her drivers license to. apparently if you show a passport you need another form of id i have no idea why, but just look out for little things like that.

Hiya, i'm 20 and just thinking about booking onto the GS tour in Oct. I can't drink due to intolerences but i wouldn't like to be seperated from the group when they go off 2 clubs that i can't get into. I love clubing at home (England) even without alcohol so i'm hoping they might let me in with the others and i just wouldn't go 2 the bar. What do you think? I would like to look around the casinos but not 2 fussed about making any bets, would prefer to use my money than waste it anyway!

Hey! I'm going on the Western Highlights tour leaving on the 11th November 2009 and I will be 20. Is there anyone else going on this tour in the same boat as me?? I don't really mind if I miss out on a bit of partying but would like to have someone else for company!
