Unfortunately the one time I was in Rome it poured rain! The most memorable thing about the day was the weather, although seeing the rain fall through the roof of the Pantheon was interesting.

I'm planning on going to see the ancient things when I go back (msot of which were bathed in mud last time), but there's lots of other stuff to see.

Try Wikitravel for ideas if you're really stumped and have some idea of what sort of things you want to see/do, but leave plenty of time because (a) nothing runs on time in Italy and (b) you'll get distracted!

I just booked this trip a few days ago and will be going alone but am looking forward to meeting everyone!!! I just booked the Doges Palace and would love to do museums in Florence ecspecially the Uffizi.

Did anyone get their itinerary from Contiki yet? Mine came today. I looked up the hotels we're staying in, they all look ok (except the two in Rome got some not so good reviews).

Also, anyone flying out from New York? JFK?

I got my itinerary the other day as well. I'm really looking forward to it! Is anyone getting in early? I arrive at 8:45am. I'm hoping to drop off my luggage at the hotel and roam Rome until we meet at 6pm.

Hi Everyone, I have just confirmed by booking on this tour - I too will by travelling solo so its great to hear that there will be a few of us there - I'll be in rome quite early on the 11th, hopefully get a little familiar with the city before meeting up with everyone - I'm so looking forward to italy, only 1 more week to go- yay!!!

My flight gets in around 12 noon.
