Hi Andrea (and Nicci)!

I only have 8 more days of work then I'm officially on vacation! I'll be 32 when we go on our trip (my b-day is the 13th of Sept.)

I've never been to Italy, but I've been to London and Paris. BTW, is it true we can only take one piece of luggage? What about a smaller piece in addition to that?

Anwyays, glad to know the names of some people coming on this trip!

Veronica

Hey Guys! I'm Nicci (SpicedGold's sister) and come from Johannesburg, South Africa....I'm so excited for this trip and can't wait to meet all of you! This will be my first Contiki trip as well as my first time in Italy!

I'm so glad there is a forum where we can ask questions because I have a lot of them. Do the Contiki directors/tour guides reply on here?

As far as I know you can bring one suitcase (20kg weight) and then usually a small backpack/carry on (10kg's) as hand luggage - I don't know if this has changed with all the new regulations?
Do our hotel rooms have hair dryers? oh and we're arriving at the Rome airport, what is the best mode of transport to get to our Contiki hotel?

it will be my friends b-day on the 15th, right before we leave too. she'll be 25 and i'm 25.

i've never been to euro so this will be a fun trip for me.

i suggest calling the airlines to see what exactly we can and can't bring on board b/c i keep hearing mixed things about carry on luggage.

we have a 10 hour lay over in new york city on our way to rome, so we're hoping to see some sights there during our stop

remember to pack light so you have room to buy fun things!

I was wondering also about the hair dryers. I'd hate to bring one since it will just take up space, but I don't want to be running around with wet hair!

Hi Everyone!

I'm 27 from Toronto Canada. This is my 3rd time in Italy. All the hotels i've been to have hair dryers, even the shabby hostels! Best bet is to bring a straightener.

Airport transportation: I think its about 20 euro to get the train from Fiumicino (leonardo Da Vinci Airport) to Termini (the central station in Rome). After that you'll have to figure out which bus to get to the hotel. I opted for the contiki transfer which costs about the same. I'm landing at 7:30am on the 18th flying in with AlItalia.

oh my god, i cannot wait so stuff myself with Gelato!

See you all soon
Connie

how does the contiki transfer work? that's what we purchased too and i believe we arrive in Rome the same time, around 7am. what city are you flying from? we go from San Francisco to New York to Rome.

Hi Nicole!

I'm arriving in Rome at 7:10 am from the Alitalia Flight directly from Toronto.

the voucher says to go to the airport shuttle desk at Terminal B in the arrivals Hall (?) which opens at 8am (!). and if you arrive and it is unstaffed to call a number (on the voucher). This should be good. If the airport in Rome lives up to the stories i've been hearing, 8am should be just right!

You mentioned a lay-over in new york, so we're on different flights. just less than a week to go...

(ANY MALES IN THIS GROUP?)
