I wanted to see if anyone is staying at the Best Western where we meet up the night before?

I'm excited and can't wait to get going... only 5 weeks left!

I'm staying there for two nights before the tour starts; wanted time to get over the jet lag.

Theres no better place to be if your looking for amusment, isn't the hotel just a short walk to Disneyland Smiler

My plan arrives mid-afternoon, so I think I'll get there in time for the night before the trip meeting.

I'm staying a couple of extra days at the end to deal with the theme park.

Hi Everyone,
I'm Sarah, 24 (soon to be 25) solo traveller from Sydney. Finally booked this tour last night and think I got the last spot - very happy I did! I'll be at the Best Western the night before, it'd be great to get to know a few people before the tour starts, really looking forward to it Smiler

I just read Sarahs post, and went back and looked at our trip, and it is all sold out!

That means we will have a full bus right?

Daniel Smith from Portsmouth... there are a lot of you on Facebook, your going to have to help narrow it down a little bit (I hope your not the one that looks like a convicted convict!!)

This will be the furthest I have travelled from home and the first time on my own. They do say the trip is what you make of it, so I plan on not being a sook and having a good time Smiler

Hi Kylie, I'm in exactly the same boat as you - first time this far away from home and also on my own, a little daunting but also so exciting! I'm sure this trip is going to be great, not to mention our hotel is near Disneyland. I was going to head off over to the east coast after the tour, but am thinking now that I may need to stay a few more days so I can actually go to Disneyland, as well as see more of LA - *MUST* see the Hollywood sign, hehe!

I'm planning on heading over to NY after the tour, then coming back for a few days in Hollywood before heading back to Australia. That way I get to see a bit of everything Smiler

Hi Kate

I would have loved to have spent that long travelling but I was just glad I got time to do the one tour!

Are you doing NY with Contiki or on your own?

Hey Kylie
I'm doing NY on my own, though I am meeting me sister there. This is my first big trip away from home (except for NZ) so I figured if I was going all that way i might as well make the most of it Smiler

Hey Everyone,

Only 30 or so more days till our trip starts!

I have to say that I've been doing a little research on how to tip in America, and since it's something we don't do is Aus, I'm worried!

I also want my Contiki Documents to arrive... my travel agent is sick of me calling to ask Smiler

Is anyone else worried about anything to do with the trip? I'm keeping an eye on the weather but I still think I'll buy a warm jacket on the trip, I don't want to have to carry one just in case.

Tipping is one of my worries too!

I figure its worth carrying a jacket; apparently it can get quite cold out in the desert at night. This is what a friend told me: "The weather in the San Diego/Las Vegas/Grand Canyon loop should be fairly warm during the day, but can be cool at night (a lot of that area is desert). So, basically, you should bring a bit of everything. The Weather Channel has a page that allows you to build a custom forecast for your trip, and gives you tips on clothes to pack."

Hope that helps.

My documents arrived yesterday; overnight courier Smiler
