Guys the site looks brilliant!

My only suggestion: the maps of the tours don't seem to serve their purpose very well - they don't seem to work properly, and even if they did, its so hard to see the route etc. Also, its practically impossible to read straight off the map where the numbers point to, you have to scroll down and read each number, and then scroll back up to check the next point (we're not all geography experts! Wink ), whereas it would have much more impact if you could get the visual and the destination names all in one shot. Personally I think the maps straight out of the brochures are great, maybe not quite as high tech, but seeing the actual path and everything labeled so clearly gets you much more pumped!

I think the Contikipedia is pure internet genius (well maybe after facebook!) =) I'm going to fail my uni exam tomorrow because I've spent hours reading about every city I'm heading to in December and planning what I want to see... Thanks guys! (no really, thankyou! more excited than ever!)

Hi Jess! Did you try clicking on the numbers on the map? The city and country name should appear in a balloon when you do. Let us know if you don't see that in your browser.

When I'm at work (assume latest version of IE) not all the numbers seem to appear on the map, maybe its an overlapping problem but I don't think so, I'll have a closer look tomorrow.

At home (IE 6.0) the maps aren't working. I see the google icon and the white direction arrows (I think are meant to apprear in the top left corner of the maps) but no actual map. The icon and arrows sit over the top of the itinerary description text.

I can imagine that when functional the click-balloon feature would help a bit, but seeing the destinations names straight up without having to do anything at all would have even more impact.... BUT I love the site overall, looks great, and addictive! =)

I'm having similar issues.
IE6 (in office) doesn't display the map, just the google icon and direction arrows appear over the itinerary text.

At home, with IE7 it was working, though after reading this post I decided to check.
And, upon opening the page (I've been looking at the Winter Wanderer one) I got this error message in a pop-up Windows box...

"The Google Maps API key used on this site was registered for a different website. You can generate a new key for this website at http://www.google.com/apis/maps/."

Oddly, that was with http://www.contiki....
using
http://au.contik... it works fine.
http://ca.contiki works
http://nz.contiki works
http://us.contiki works
http://uk.contiki DOESN'T
http://contiki DOESN'T

Weird.

Firstly - thanks for all your comments and opinions all over the forums- very useful.
I cant see a maps that accurately shows the tour for my European contrast tour.
Ok and next i'm probably gonna ask a incredibly commonly asked question that is personal to each person. But I'm trying to work a kind of budget but i'm battling as i honestly dont have a clue of what things cost in europe. How much should i budget per day (euros)
I'm a moderate drinker, particuarly keen on cultural sites/museums etc. Incl say half the optionals, Excl -souveniors and heavy spending, will eat cheap lunches ie pizza slice on the go!
Thanks

No worries - we're going to (soon) change the way the maps are displayed to make them a lot easier to see...

Take a look at this page about how much spending money to bring for a tour in Europe and let us know if it answers some of your questions....if not, please let us know so we can add more/make changes.

Cheers

A suggestion for the site: I'm doing european vista in May '08 and had some friends ask me where I was going to be on certain dates (for birthdays, meeting up); it would be helpful if there was some kind of calender that you could "click" on that would show you what dates you will be where..eg. my tour starts on May 17th, but doesn't leave london until the 18th (which for some reason I found confusing..too long to explain!). Does contki.com have this function or did I just miss it? Maybe it'll be too hard to implement? Or maybe only someone like me would find this useful? Just a thought...

No worries!

We're just about to make some pretty big changes to the site (March 14 '08) as we're always working to improve it - and listening to what people who use the site have to say is a big part of that...we don't have any function like this (at the moment) so you haven't skipped over it, but, as always, we're always open to feedback, ideas and suggestions so we'll certainly have a look at it.

Cheers
