I was just wondering if anyone is thinking about going on the Northern Explorer in June/July 2009? Or if anyone has been on the tour and can recommend it? I would love to see some photos from the tour. I can't seem to find a lot about this tour, so if anyone could let me know where I can, that would be great. As this will be my first time overseas and travelling with Contiki, I am a bit nervous (as I'm travelling alone) but also very excited. The date of the tour is the 24th June 2009 to 6th July 2009. I will be flying into LA on the 18th and catching up with friends before boarding the Amtrack Train from LA to Chicago arriving just before the tour starts (night before). Will then spend a few more days in LA before heading home. That's the plan anyway...I am going to book my flights and tour in the next few weeks (as my travel agent said to wait) until there are a few more flights available (cheapest deal, hopefully!). Anyway would love to hear from you.

Did you end up booking the Northern Explorer 24 June to 6 July? I am thinking of doing the Grand Northern which departs New York on 12 June and links up with this tour on 24 June.
