Hi Guys,

I am planning to go on the 14 day Asian Adventure tour ending in Siem Reap. Can anyone recommend a simple way to return to Bangkok besides flying. Also the tour ends on the 4th January and my flight home is on the 9th, has anyone got any suggestions to fill the gap?

From Siem Reap it is possible to take a local bus or a private minivan .Its best to ask the TM to recommend rather than just approaching the vendors as they will almost certainly overcharge you.The best way is to actually fly with http://www.bangkokair.com/

Which is very realiable and does not really cost that much. Its also a very short flight.

The road has just been upgraded and its perfectly fine about a 4 hour trip with immigration checkpoints. In the past it was one of the hardest overland crossings in the whole of SEA.

From Bangkok, I would recommend flying to Phuket or to the East coast of Thailand i.e Koh Tau , Koh Samui if you like a beach holiday for a few days or other neighbouring SEA destinations via air asia.

I can also recommend Singapore , Kuala Lumpur Malaysia if you want to have a shopping , eating local food kind of holiday. You would probably need some civilization after travelling through those areas.

It really depends on what your interests are.

Hi Christine, I will also be on the asian adventure tour that finishes in Siem Reap on the 4th. Im wondering the same thing as you. I was told by Tam (Contiki Consultant) that it is possible to catch an overnight train?! Have tried to look on net to find out more- no luck. If you find something, please let me know!

I don't think there is any train service at all from Siem Reap to Bangkok. Even if there is I would not recommend using it especially at night due to safety reasons -i.e robbery, kidnappings. Cambodia is a SE Asia country which is really 3rd world and kind of lawless in certain parts especially in the countryside.
