Hey Guys, I'm moving to Korea, and am interested in doing China at some point. How did you guys do it? Did anybody find a tour, or know of one; or did you do it youself? Thanks!

For countries like China, its best to take a tour as it can be a little frustrating due to language.

Travelling independent of tours is certainly possible if you are able to read and speak Mandarin to the standard of Kevin Rudd's level. He actually speaks it fluently with a typical educated "blue blood" Beijing accent as well.

Check out www.gapadventures.com

for options.

Haha, i think you'll find lots of Chinese now speak at least some degree of English, so it might be fun to just backpack and experience the local culture!

Only some young people who have taken private lessons in the larger cities can speak some English. Some Singaporean, Malaysian, Brunei, Indonesian chinese who are 100% fluent in dialect and Mandarin who travel to mainland China even have problems with the strong accent.

Imagine what its like for non native speakers.
