I've lived and worked in that continent. Would recommend Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei as well.

The first thing that most people will notice when they go to S.E. Asia is the high humidity 90% and the heat 30-35C , then the crowds.

Not yet but I'm leaving in about 34 days for HK and Beijing!

Other than that, would love to see Japan and Vietnam...

The company uses a package offered by a local specialized agency called trails of Indochina.

http://www.trailsofindochina.com/

The costs of these tours are actually quite high in comparison to competitors though.

These tours are even on par with European/ US destinations.

S.E Asia is a relatively inexpensive destination and many airlines can bundle high end hotel/resort / tour packages for the same ammount.

I'm Singaporean and have been living in Singapore all my life, and have done a lot of travelling around Asia, including Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Macau, Hongkong, Taiwan, China. Will be glad to help if anyone needs any help on any of these places!

Hi Gryphon,

Singapore will certainly be buzzing on the 28th of this month with the F1 nightrace. If I'm not mistaken the race is downtown near marina centre around the Singapore flyer at night.
It should be the most exciting race of the year.
Majulah Singapura!!

Thailand is fantastic! Everything there is beautiful and so colorful. And the food is amazing!!!! It is similar to Europe though in that you see a zillion cathedrals in Europe; except in Thailand you see a zillion Buddah statues. All very cool, but you will see them a lot! Vietnam is also quite beautiful, once you get away from Ho Chi Minh City. The city is worse than Los Angeles smog, but once outside the city it is truly beautiful.

Kirsten I would say its hazy during the burnoff season rather than smoggy.

Lots of people do not realise that in S.E. Asia the month of March/ April is "haze season"- not from party drugs but rather there is a burnoffs season in Indonesia. The Indos like to burn large tracks of forrest in Kalimantan Borneo for conversion of forrest to palm oil plantations.

This practise affects neighbouring S.E. Asian countries.Sometimes its so bad that you don't even see the sun for a week or so.

Hi my name is David,

I am 18 years of age traveling solo. Does any one know the usual age rage for south east asia tours, and do many people these days travel by themselves?

Cheers

David, Hi

The ages are from any where from 18 to 35 and from around the world. I have been on 6 contiki tours and I have travelled on my own for all of them. Its the best way. U met wonderful and friendly people from around the world (but u may find that most of the people are from Australia) You may even stay long time friends or develop a relationship if u are lucky.
About 80% of the people on the tours come alone.

Hope this as helped u.
Michelle

Hey everybody Smiler

I'm booking my trip start of March which is going to be the first tour in South East Asia. I have been to Asia before, Bali twice this year. I really hope these tours get up for Contiki, I'm glad they have finally started doing Asia one of the best places in the world.

I hate reading articles saying that Contiki will screw up all these countries in South East Asia.. Whats another tourist company gonna do.. there are heaps running around Asia atm.. I love what the iterinary have planned. I'm heading 6th of March.

I have been to Hong Kong, Bangkok and Koh Samui. Thought Hong Kong was fantastic but it was before it went back to China so I dont know if it has changed and I absolutely adore Koh Samui - it is so cheap - you can visit other little islands like Koh Tao on day trips and they have the full moon party each month on Koh Phanang
