As to the optional excursion prices, they shouldn't be inflated. All the Contiki's I've been on so far have had you pay in the local currency in each place. If they do collect the money up front, then it will be converted into the correct amount of euros. I'm probably going to do most of them except some of the meals. As to sight seeing beforehand, I'm definitely in. One of my friends gave me a few recommendations of things to do as she did a Contiki that went to Berlin a few months ago. I've already signed up for a Cold War tour on the 2nd and a Third Reich tour on the 4th through insider tour (www.insidertour.com) - they are both from 10-2 and aren't very expensive. I'm also doing a tour of Potsdam & Sanssouci on Friday afternoon. Let me know if you'd like to join me.
