Yea, I've been printing out tons of info about the cities but I haven't even started to read them - I'm so excited I don't know where to start!

Berlin is quite far from the Neuschwanstein castle, I think you'd have to overnight in Fussen (the town where the castle is in) since it's about 8 hours by train from Berlin (connecting once or twice).

The national rail service is Deutsche Bahn, you can check out their fares to Fussen on www.bahn.de .

Or, it's possible to fly from Berlin to Munich and then hop on a 2-hour train ride to Fussen or catch a bus tour to the castle from Munich. There are probably loads of airlines, but make sure to check the charters like Air Berlin, Eurowings, Germanwings, XL Airways, Condor, etc. They usually have good fares.

There's a daily bus tour from Frankfurt that heads to the castle as well so you can fly to Frankfurt if not Munich.

Cheers,
Alex

...Not too sure what the cost would possible be, but because it's a long journey it might be a bit pricey.

Hi Nicole - Nice to meet you... Wow, 4th Contiki? That's great - Which ones have you been on? I plan on taking the Egpyt or Greek Island Hopping tour next year (I can't believe I'm already thinking of next year's plans!)... Have you been on one of these? I can't decide between the two!

Cheers,
Alex

Hey all,

I have not yet registered for this tour but there’s a good chance I will be going. I am a 25 year old male from Montreal, Canada and I will most likely be traveling solo. It’s nice to see that a few other Canadians are signed up. This will be my second Contiki… I went on the European Adventurer 2 summers ago and it was awesome. I’m probably going to fly into Berlin for the start of the tour. When it ends I’m thinking of heading to Helsinki to meet up with a friend on the 24th, and travelling around Northern Europe with him for a week or so.

Hey all,

I'm 25 from New York. I'll be arriving in Berlin on the 10th. This is my first Contiki and I'll be traveling solo as well. Good to see there are plenty of others doing the same!

I have 5 days after the tour before I head back home, and haven't yet figured out what I want to do during that time. I'd love to see Munich, Neuschwanstein castle, etc... just not sure if its practical. Then again I do have 5 days, so I could probably do it. Any suggestions?

Scott

hey chantal!

wow! have you been to interlaken before? i went two summers ago. the white water rafting is UNBELIEVABLE! you will be rafting down a glacial melt so the water is absolutely freezing, but its so awesome. are you staying at balmer's or funny farm?

so what exactly is your itinerary for after the tour? how do you plan on getting around? i would assume mostly by train. my return flight leaves from berlin a day earlier than yours, the 26th.

Hey Scott - I'm heading to Munich when the tour ends on Wednesday (my flight leaves at 12pm from Warsaw). I'm spending four nights there, and will definitely be visiting the castle and will probably take a day trip to Salzburg in Austria and maybe Heidelberg (thanks to fast European trains!). I then leave back to Canada on the 25th (Sunday late morning).

I'm looking to visit the castle on the 22nd (Thursday) but of course this is flexible since I'll be there for four nights. (Chantal, when do you get into Munich?)

I heard Munich is a great city, and one of top things on my list is to visit the famous beer hall... the Hofbrauhaus!

Let me know what your plans are!

Cheers,
Alex
