Hey- are you going alone or with friends? Have you been to any of those countries before? I went on one contiki tour and it was a lot of fun.

Hey all,

I'll be travelling solo on the tour (21 year old male from Canada). I've been to Germany and Austria before on the European Encounter tour, but only on the western side. So I'm really looking forward to seeing the East! It was a lot of fun on my first Contiki and ever since then that 'travel bug' is constantly itiching!

I'll be flying into London for a few nights before heading off to Barcelona and Munich and will eventually make it to Berlin for the start of the tour. I'm also heading straight to Paris too when it finishes.

What are your plans?

my plans are to go in berlin one day before....after one day to visit the big castle in germany. 3 days in interlaken for some white water rafting and hiking..

Chantal, it looks like you'll have heaps of fun and adventure before the tour!

I'm planning on seeing the famous castle too - is it Neuschwanstein, right? I'll be in Munich for two nights before Berlin, so I'll make the trek to Bavaria for a day which would be May 9. Are you taking an escorted tour to the castle? I'm still looking around...

yes indeed it's the Neuschwanstein....I think I will take the escorted tour...I think it would be a lot more interesting...i'm going to see the castle after the tour...cause i'm only arriving in berlin on the 8th and the 9th we are meeting with the group....so on the 8 and 9th I will scoop around berlin!!!!

We're actually going to meet on May 10th - Yea, I thought it was the 9th too, but I realized that in the brochure you would leave Canada on the 9th and get into Berlin the next day to meet the group.

I might visit and stay in Fussen (where the castle is) and Munich as well after the tour for a few nights - The week before the tour it seems like something is going on since I had a really hard time finding hostels...Still not sure what to do yet (whether or not I stay in Fussen or take a day trip to there), but if I take an escorted tour it'll probably be Gray Line since they have daily tours.

...I'll be arriving on May 10th in Berlin, hopefully in the morning so I can get a chance to snack on some wiener schnitzel for lunch and hang around in Berlin! What time do you arrive at?

Hey, im going to be arriving on may 9th to get an extra day in berlin, after im taking the bus back to berlin and staying two days before heading off to sweden for the scandinavia trip.

Whereabouts are you from?

I'll be doing a bit of trekking around Europe before and after the tour, with the first stop being London, then off to Paris and Barcelona for the week leading up to the tour. I fly to Munich from Warsaw on the last day of the trip to wrap it up and visit the castle and hopefully take a day trip to Salzburg while I'm there.

I just figured out which flights I'll be catching and so I'm due to arrive in Berlin on Saturday afternoon and I'll try to squeeze in a bit of sightseeing before the group meeting.

All in all, it should be a lot of fun! Very excited - even though it's more than two months away! I wish time could go fast...
