Anybody out there booked for the April 29 group of the Eastern Road tour? My travel agent just told me that it's a guaranteed departure, so I know we're a fair number so far Big Grin

Let me know if you'll be on the same tour. I'm 25F from Canada, and I was on the European Discovery March 2005.

So psyched...Can't wait!

I'm also a 25F from Canada.  I'll be on the same tour, traveling solo with Contiki for the first time.

Thinking of coming a few days earlier and staying a few days later to check out Berlin...anyone interested in meeting up?

Cheers,

ManSmiler

Hi Man,

I'm glad a second person's posting...Are you from Quebec too? I'm actually planning on getting there on the 29th (leaving here on the 28th) so I won't be there a few days earlier. A couple of questions...
- Have you looked into some fun stuff to do before the tour in Berlin? I'm trying to decide on how I'm going to spend my free day before we meet up with the Contiki team.
- Do you speak German? I have a phrasebook because I don't speak it and it's really not easy to learn it so I'm a bit nervous (in a positive way).

I'm 1/3 packed - Can't wait...

Hi Arlette,

Wow?I can?t believe you?re already 1/3 packed?that?s great!  I'm from Toronto and I can't speak German either, but I?m trying to learn some now.

I got a Germany youth rail pass so I?m gonna visit some relatives in Dortmund from the 27th to the 30th.  After the tour, I'll have a few days to explore Berlin before returning to Canada.  Will you be staying a day or two longer?

Not sure what you?d like to see/do in Berlin, but check this site out:

http://www.berlin-tourist-information.de/english/sights...enswuerdigkeiten.php

Hope that helps.  Looking forward to the trip and meeting everyone!

Cheers,

ManSmiler

Hi! This is Carole from Vancouver Canada. My husband Calvin and I will
be on this tour.  We did the London  to Athens tour in 2001, and we had so much fun that we had to do another one!

Looking forward to meeting all of you!

I called for the april 29 - may 12 trip, but they can't confirm till Mon Frowner

There's less than 5 spaces left, and their London office is closed till Mon Frowner

Btw- which options to get, which to avoid?

(Male, 35, traveling alone)

Good to know it's booking up! I was getting worried there wouldn't be
anyone else on the tour! Last time we took a contiki tour, there were
about 20 people who introduced themselves on this message board, so
when we got there, we sort of knew a bunch of people already, which was
really cool. So come on people! Smiler

We've already decided that we're doing every single excursion. Smiler The
nice thing about it is that you don't have to decide until the time, if
you want to wait to see how many other people are doing it.

by the way - nice to see another 30's person is signing up. Yeah, we're
not quite ready to join the 'blue-hairs' in trafalgar yet either. Smiler

Contiki is SO much more fun!

counting the days..........

Our flight doesn't get in until 6:50pm on the 30th so we're going to miss the welcome dinner and everything which is too bad...Hopefully we'll be able to find out where and when to meet the next morning!

Hey, David (and everyone else on my tour)!

Sorry it's taken me some time to reply - I was having an issue with the website and my password, etc. But all that matters is that there are only 12.5 days left until I leave for Berlin!! Big Grin

I will be arriving at 12 (noon) on the 29th. Figured I'd get there a bit earlier so that I can get used to the new timezone and max out my vacation time as long as I possibly can!!

David - I wouldn't worry much about the weather. I'm sure it'll get better...and hey, 55 F isn't so bad (compared to where we live anyway). I do hope, though, that it doesn't rain on us much (it barely rained on my last Contiki trip last March) - so hopefully, we'll get some nice photos! Smiler

I have one more final exam left and then I can finish totally prepping for the trip. I'm already 80% packed, but I still have to get my detailed itinerary prepped so that I don't waste the little time that we'll have in each spot. A website that I found EXTREMELY helpful was one put together by someone who went on the same Contiki tour just last year: http://www.travelscribe.org/travelogues/contiki_eastern_road/dayLog.phtml?id=5

This guy hyperlinked the hotels that we'll be staying in, and he has great photos and a breakdown of the daily itinerary and costs incurred. Very much worth a look! Kudos to Zack, the author of those pages!

If any of you would like to chat on MSN, add me on: arlette_4@msn.com

Looking forward to meeting you all, tour mates!!

Hmmm...Maybe we'd be best bringing some boots with us...The floods have quieted down, but I guess you never know...Read about the floods here:

Hey guys,

It's nice to hear from you all and thanks for all the useful info and linksSmiler Sorry, it's been a while...I'm arriving on the 27th and going to visit some relatives. Hope to be back in Berlin early afternoon on the 30th. Maybe we can meet up for lunch or something??

I'm really excited about this trip, but I've been so busy that I haven't learned any German yet...so I'm a little nervous.

Look forward to meeting you all!!!

Cheers,

ManSmiler
