Yes, I am from Austin, TX and my buddy is from Atlanta, GA and that is the date that we booked for Eastern Road.  Did European Discovery 2 years ago.  Have you done one of these before?

Additionally, I think there is another gal from Perth who is booking.

Great use of the word howdy, btw.  Wink

Hi there - I suppose I should be using G'day, being from Oz, lol.

This will be my first Contiki tour.  I went to school in London forever ago, but haven't been back since.  So it will be great.  My Mum's side of the family is from Poland, so I can't wait to get there.

Here's hoping that the trip gets confirmed.

Cheers
Mindy

it is my understanding that this is the second most popular trip, second to EuroDiscovery. So, I am assuming that it will.

My degree was in Russian and German History, with a lot of Cold War thrown in there. I am really looking forward to seeing everything that I had only read about before or saw in grainy news clips.

You may find this a valuable resource, since this is your first contiki.  I know I found it very helpful.

Excellent, here's hoping it gets confirmed..

Interesting degree, my hubby did Ancient history, I find it all so interesting to see and learn about older times and civilisations.

Thanks for the link.

Cheers

I just booked my trip today.  I've never traveled on my own before, so this ought to be interesting!

From what my travel agent said, it sounded like there were only 2-3 spaces left on the tour after I booked yesterday.

Like you, I was also a history major in college, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing and exploring all the places I've been reading about for so long.

I think it's awesome that there are communities like this to get in touch with people who will be on your tour.  I'll be checking out the ezboard next!

The fact that there are 7 known people on this trip as per the message boards bodes well for the trip in general.  I went on the European Discovery in 2004 and while I was concerned that only 7 had posted to the boards, it ended up being full.  I am assuming the same will be true here.  It is my understanding that this is the second most popular tour Contiki offers next to European Discovery.

YOur travel agent told you that there are only 2 or 3 spaces left?  Contiki does not/cannot give out that info when I called them directly.

History major as well?  Do tell.  I am in the process of re reading

Well, we are 9 weeks out.  Can't wait!

I am going to try to pick up some German and Polish between now and then.

Hi All,

I too will be on the Eastern Road tour from 24 September along with my boyfriend, Aaron.

Aaron found this message board and I am very pleased that it looks like the tour willd efinately go ahead!

A little bit of background:

I was an exchange student in Germany in 1999 and have since been back to Europe (mainly Germany) 3 times.  This is Aaron's first trip to Europe.

This is both of our first Contiki tour, although when on exhcange in 99 I did a Contike-type tour for a month throughout europe with 40 other exchange students also living in Germany.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Berlin on the 24th!

Kel

this should be quite a crew indeed.

Did you follow the string to find the ezboard site as well for Contiki.  Just chocked full of good info.

When is everyone flying in? Would be good to know if people want to share a taxi if they fly in at a similar time.
I'm looking at a Gatwick to Schoenefeld flight which arrives at 6pm on Sat 23rd.
If by chance I dont get that I'll be taking the Luton to Schonefeld arriving at 9.20am on Sunday 24th.

Me: Shelly, 24, Perth, Aust. Doing Oktoberfest camping trip beforehand. After Eastern Road probably doing a trip to Egypt, then Istanbul then Ireland before returning to London to find a job.
