I have just got back from the most amazing two weeks holiday...ever!! To all those who were booked on the Beaches and Reefs tour, leaving Sydney on the 6th March with Sara and Gary, thanks for making the trip so much fun! I loved every minute of it and I really hope that we all manage to keep in touch. The two weeks were pretty hectic but I wouldn't have changed a thing. I've taken so many amazing memories home with me...partying in Rockhampton, karaoke in the Dingo Bar, dancing on the tables in the Wool Shed and many, many more!

Keep in touch and let's meet up for a contiki reunion in the future!
Love

I did the same tour last June and I had such a blast. What an unforgettable vacation...the karaoke at the Dingo Bar rocked and Long Island was absolutely amazing!!!!

If anyone has any questions about Australia, feel free to hit me up. I'd be more than happy to share my experience!

My buddy and I are taking this tour mid-May...   What should we make sure to do?  What are 2 or 3 "extras" that you would recommend?

Thanks.

Hi!

There's lots to do on the Beaches and Reefs tour so it's difficult to narrow it down to just a few. These are the things that I really enjoyed (although other people might not think the same!)...
Dracula's Restaurant, Surfer's: a fun night out with food and entertainment.

Full day 4WD Fraser island: there's not an awful lot to do on the island so I opted for the full day tour and had a great day. We went to Lake  Mckenzie which is gorgeous and because we were doing the full day, we got to spend quite a bit of time there. You then go into the middle of the island for a rainforest walk and then down to the beach (which is like a freeway with cars driving everywhere!)

Crocodile Farm: Food and the opportunity to see massive crocodiles (and eat some if you want to!) After the night at the croc farm we ended up in a pub in Rockhampton (a very quiet town) and it was fab! I don't think our tour leader and driver could believe that we'd had a great night out in Rockhampton!

Whitsunday day sail: I decided to just do the one day sail instead of 2. There's enough to do on Long island to keep you occupied for a day and then it was nice to go out sailing on the other day. Wait until you're on the tour and then decided what you want to do then. Those that did the 2 day sail had a blast but so did i on the island. it depends what you want to get out of your trip to the Whitsundays....

Outer Barrier Reef cruise: definitely do this! You can't go all that way and not go to the reef. Snorkelling is free but you can go scuba diving if you want to.

Anyway, that's some of what I did and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The entire trip was great. I was travleeing with a great group and we got to see and do so much. I couldn't choose my favourite place...it was all so much fun!

Enjoy your trip and anymore questions then email me here or on: ejhuzzey@hotmail.com

Hope this helps Smiler
Emma

Okay-So the other tours that should be on your bus will be Reefs&Rainforests, Contrast Reef&Rock, Aussie Explorer, Islands&Rainforest, Magical Tropics, Coast&Whitsundays and Cairns Sunshine Trail....

I did the Cairns Sunshine Trail in July/Aug and I think there were at least a few people for every one of those trips....You will soend the moajority of you time with the same people if starting in Sydney as only a few people are on some of the shorter trips and then about half of the group will cont on for the really long ones....

AS far as things not to miss out on-Eat at the Croc farm, Scuab if you ahve the extra money at the Great Barrier Reef, Go to the Dracuals Caberet, HIt up the 1/2 day in the last day in the rainforest just north of Cairns, Skydive if you want, hit up Lake Makcenzie on Fraser Island, and do one of the sailing options in the Whitsundays though I recomend the 1 day sail as you will get a chance to do laundry for the 1st time on the trip when you get there....

Let me know if you have any other questions....sta-penny@hotmail.com

I just finished the Beaces & Reefs tour (jan 06). It was an awesome experience and probably the best 2 weeks I've ever had. Made the most amazing friends. There is so much to do, and sleeping was minimal and partying was plentiful.

Surfers Paradise had so much to do, and the night life was great. The farm stay was great because the whole group was together and relaxing. Frazer Island was beautiful, and the Dingo Bar( "Yeeaahh"). The whitsundays was amazing, i recommend the 2 day sail through the Whitsundays. This was my favourite part of the whole trip. Long Island, Party Party! Try the Long Island Ice Tea. It will get you well on your way! Cairns was 3 days of lazing by the pool and patying all night. Our tour took over the Woolshed bar. We were a crazy bunch thou. cant believe its all finished.

If your doing the tour, get ready for the the time of your life!

Hey, yah it doesn't look like many people are doing BnR from Sydney on the 23rd of April either.  haven't talked to anyone here yet.  I have my fingers cross that there will still be lots of people to meet on the tour..the more the merrier!  I guess it will be that much more of a surprise experience, going there without knowing anyone!
Lucky you...just over a week to go!  I have 3 to go yet!
Have fun..maybe we can talk again when we're done!
