I did this tour with contiki in may 2005. Its a very good tour. My recommendations to anyone is to go early or have some time after your tour to check out london and parts of England. Lots of cool things to do and see in london and area.
Most of the optionals are great on this tour. THeres also a secret optional in amsterdam.
My recommendations for doing optionals for VEnice italy, make sure u all do the gondola ride, but dont do the optional dinner. As well for Florence, make sure u have some lunch before the bus leaves that mornings as its a long stretch to rome.
