Cheers gorm.......and i think i can live with the fact that you follow football, anything other than rugby league!

Hey Tanya....Gaelic football we can discuss along with AFL, however if it gets to confusing, we will just discuss International rules and kill two birds with one stone! I can discuss field hockey with you? any help..?
So the tour is leaving from the imperial and not the royal? bummer, means i will have to get up earlier which means my hangover will be worse. I'm sure either way we will be meeting up for some ice cold beverages!

Cam....what are you concerned about a hair dryer for? ah its for cass.......right! haha. Come on Cam, go easy on Cass...her is very important.

Chat more soon no doubt. Out!

Hi Everyone

I'm another guy heading on this trip in a couple of weeks time. To ad to the cultural diversity of this group I come from Ipswich in Queensland and can speak only one language.

I can't lay a claim to a huge Irish or Scottish decent so I decided, for the purposes of this forum, to give myself a name that makes it look like I can drink. For anyone who is willing to test my capabilities I'm open all hours.

I'm really looking forward to this trip and will be doing more travel afterwards so I think this should be a good way to get it all kicked off.

Packing is something I haven't considered in detail but I'll have to soon because there's not much you can fit in a backpack. One thing I know for certain is rugby league is the number one code in Australia and ALF is rubbish.

I'd like to catch up sometime whether it be in Australia or London (I think Williams sounds pretty hot) so drop me a line at penders31@hotmail.com

See ya's later

after working in bars for the last 6 years i reakon i can hold my drink pretty well, so O'Pender, you and me will have to paint the town and see what sort of drunken mischief we can get ourselves into (thats an open invitation to any and all piss heads on tour!).
i reakon i will be right there with you joel nursing my head if we are leaving from the imperial, but what the hell, you only live once!
as for hockey, i should be able to bluff my way through at least 5 minutes of conversation. Dont know to much about it, i do know that if you use your stick for anything else than hitting the puck you get taken off the ice (found that out the hard way in my debut/retirement game Big Grin).
anyway, should probably get back to work.
catch ya!

My contiki booklet has a meeting time for both hotels. 6:45 for the national and 6:30 for the imperial. The tour voucher says 6:45 for both hotels though. It appears to be an early start no matter which hotel we are at.

As for the sports, I will watch any sport, even poker. I may need educated on Ice hokey though, I only ever played field hockey.

It seems a few of us are heading into London on the 1st. I am on the saturday flight with JAL, stopping for the night in Osaka Japan. Anyone on the same flight?

22 sleeps to go.

hi all!
i just picked up my documents yesterday (friday 08/09) and now its starting to sink in that im actually going!
i have read and re-read everything in my tour pouch, and the only thing i can't find is my "ticket to ride". has anyone else got their gear yet? kenny, did you find yours in your documents, or is it the voucher in the book along with the vouchers for the hotel accom? either way according to the itinerary, it says the tour starts at the Royal National, so it looks like your agent may have got it wrong Tanya, but its not all bad! you get the better rooms and the hotels are practically opposite each other according to the maps. once you get your documents look at your itinerary and it has the details on the first page Smiler! either way, we will have a choice night the night before at the basement!
sorry kenny, was going to be joining you on that JAL flight, but my boss flew them a few months ago, and he had a really bad time with the seating and stuff, so i am flying Malaysian Airlines with a stop over in Kuala Lumpur on the same day as you. we may even see each other at the new airport! what time is your flight on the sat? mine is at 3pm but i am going to get there at around 11am so that i can check in early and hopefully get a window seat for the flight.
any one else on the Malaysian flight on the sat with a stopover in KL? we may be on the same flight on the sun leaving KL for London.

The tour voucher is in the little blue and white thing labled "your tour documents". It contains assembly instructions for the Imperial hotel, so no one needs to worry.

I Thought about the Malaysian flight, but the JAL worked better for my stop overs, the Malaysian was a little bit cheaper when I booked. I leave Adelaide at 6:00 and Sydney at 11:50. I am supprised your boss had a problem with JAL, I know a lot of people wo fly with them regularly and have no problem. It just goes to show that anything can happen.

PS GO CROWS

cheers kenny!
i think the fact that my boss was travelling with his wife may have made a difference (she nags a hell of a lot!!!) but i didn't really want to chance it!
i would have liked to catch the JAL flight, i got a friend that moved back to japan after living in Australia for about 15 years when we were 20 (which was only 3 years ago) and we were hoping to catch up, but he lives on one of the other islands to where the flight stops so i decided to go Malaysian instead. Some of my family does not like the idea of me going to malaysia, especially because of all the recent drug scandals, execution sentances etc etc, but i fugure they are in bali, and its not like im going to have 10 kilos of heroin strapped to my body!!!!! i am worried a little though going through some of those countries, when i was younger i had to pay $100 US to the customs at the Denpasar Airport in Bali just to get my passport back off the guy, so hopefully it runs smoothly in KL!

well fellow tour mates...
I leave Canada today for Dublin Ireland. 2 weeks there and then off to meet ya in London. I am also getting there on the 1st; I called Contiki again and she told me that ya, we meet at the Royal, but that the night at the Imperial was already included with my package so no need to switch hotels for one night. To be honest, all I want to know is where the nearest pub is!
See you all in the "Basement"...19 more days...

Tanya
