Hello Shell, I did the Aussie Explorer in 2004 from October to November and i had the best time EVER, just wanted to give you a "Heads up" on what you can expect and a warning or two.
When i started in Darwin it was sooooo hot there, i had to buy a cowboy style hat in one of the stores on the main st in Darwin, a hat is necessary to keep the sunburn at bay and you should invest in a fly net for the hat, you will not need it on the east coast but for when you get to Alice Springs and Uluru especially, the flys go nuts after you at the Olgas.

Also when you do the sail of the Whitsundays, your TM should tell you, but in case he/she doesn't, you are allowed to bring and drink alcohol on board but NO glass of any kind so if you want Beer then bring cans not bottles and
if you prefer spirits such as Vodka, Baccardi or Whiskey (i like Bailey's or Jack Daniels Whiskey....whoooee) then make sure you have a few empty 1 or 2 litre plastic bottles to put your drink into. They have coolers with ice
supplied on board so you do not need to bring ice. Also if it is very hot and humid at the Whitsundays (for me it was mid to high 30's celcius) then it is very hard to sleep at night, a battery operated fan is a good thing to have. They also do not allow anyone to wear speedos on board, only bikini's for the girls and boxers for the guys...........what else..........oh yeah, have a great time, i did, it was the best hol i had ever had and i am counting the days til i go back to Australia.

If you want to know anything else then you can email me at karlw970@yahoo.ie

Good Luck and Slainte......... Karl

i'm from Dublin Ireland
