I am also doing to Grand Explorer in NZ on 17 January starting in Christchurch.

Great to hear from you. I fly out on 29th Nov but I don't get to Darwin until 1 Dec early in the morning because of the time difference.
Gives me a couple of days to recover and explore.

If you or anyone else is doing this trip let me know - its great to chat to people before the trip starts!!

I've never done this kind of trip before, but all my friends who did it gave me a great feedback... so I am really looking forward!!!! It would be great if we could meet in Sydney end of november!!! my plan is to leave Sydney for Darwin on the 2nd.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Im flying direct to Darwin on 29 Nov and get there on 1 December. I'll have a couple of days before the tour starts.

Im from Kent which is just below London in the UK.

I did a contiki trip last year in USA and LOVED IT!! I am now officially a fellow contikian!!

Im actually getting off this tour a few days early as i'll be spending Christmas with my friend in Brisbane. We are then travelling down to Sydney for New Year. Then on to Melbourne, Tassie and the on to New Zealand to do a tour there as well.

Im really excited and can't wait to get away. Its also really good to chat with people who are on the trip with you as well.

I am gonna spend some time in Sydney before and after the aussie explorer. As I never traveled alone, I'm a bit stressed and thought it would be great to meet in Sydney (for those who'll be there!!!!!!). I also have no idea on where to stay there!!! any advices???

I'm spending a few days in Darwin pre trip and 3/4 days after the trip in Sydney. I'm staying at the Contiki hotels that we start and end at.

I'm also traveling alone.

This is hotting up to be a fantastic trip!

I'm staying in the contiki hotels before/after the trips i'm on. Firstly because they are at a reasonable rate and also because you'll probably be sharing a room with the people you'll share with on the trip (or at least get to know people).

Although I have travelled by myself it can be a bit scary - you just have to remember that we are all in the same boat. I'd say 80% of the group are on their own. Its great to meet people beforehand over email.
