Hi there, I'm Daryl, and I've booked the Aussie Explorer departing Darwin on Dec. 06. This will be my second Contiki trip (did the European Discovery last year), and I'm impatiently excited about Australia. =) I'm 24, male, from Toronto, Canada.

The trip officially ends Dec. 29, are you staying the extra few days to party in the New Year down under?

Hey you guys, so good to hear from you! Makes me even more excited. This will be my first contiki trip...well, my first trip ever on my own! Super nervous, as are most, i assume, but i'm so freaking excited too. And I'm definately staying around sydney for new years, how could i not?? It's supposed to be incredible! Hi, yeah I've done the trip this way round to have new years in Sydney (hopefully with people I'll meet on this trip)and I've booked to stay a further week so sightsee and stuff. I'm female...sorry I know my name throws people, its short for Theodora but I don't suppose that makes it any easier!!! I'm from England, just outside of London.

hi, well the' you will surely have me at least to spend new years with, but i'm sure that alot of the poeple on this tour probably have the same idea that we do! I'm going to get an open ended ticket also so that if i want to stay around aus for a while i will be free to do so. I have a friend that was just living in london for 2 years actually, she loved it and is sad to be home!
Daryl, i'd like to hear all about your previous contiki experience if you dont mind.
I'd love to keep chatting with you both, i seem to get more excited and it seems more real when there is someone to share it with, haha.

are you guys doing any stop overs on your trip? Like to fiji or hawaii or anything? Would be crazy if we could maybe arranged a met up somewhere else too, maximize the trip...if you're going that far might as well stop over and see other places too as it doesnt much affect your flight cost! ( but its hard to do alone) Also, have you guys booked hotels for new years and and so on? I'm having a hard time finding anything as everything seems to be booked up for that time.

I considered a two-day stop over in Hawaii, but I wouldn't have been able to get that much time off work.

My Europe Contiki trip was a blast. I believe the motto was treat every night like a Friday night, and every Morning like a Monday morning =) Contiki really is what you put into it, so if you've set out to have a good time, you should. But again, it was all late nights and early mornings.

I'm spending two nights in the Contiki Hotel in Darwin (before the tour) and four nights in a backpacker's hostel in Sydney. Sydney might be easier if you find a smaller place as I'm sure all the hotels will be overpriced.

Which optional excursions are you interested in? I'm having a hard time choosing!

Hi all, can't believe it's only 9 weeks today!!!! I'm staying in Thailand for a few days on the way out to Darwin and staying in a motel I thinks before the trip starts. When we get to sydney I've booked to stay on an extra week in a hostel somewhere in Glebe, which still had availability when I booked it a few weeks ago. Seriously can't wait!!!!

Hi! I know, I am getting so excited! I made my flight final yesterday, with a week in fiji and 5 days in the cook islands, this is going to be quite an adventure for my first solo travels. The' would you mind sending me the link to the hostel in glebe that you've found? I'm getting a little worried that everything is booking up so quickly. Are you staying at the frontier hotel the night before the tour begins? i think most do, but if you are then we should all ( Daryl, you and myself) meet up for a drink or something that night. So excited, cant wait! Thanks for any info.

I´m Simone, 24 years old, from Germany and I am also going on the aussie-explorer-Tour which starts on the 6th of December in Darwin and ends on 29th in Sydney. I will also stay at the Frontier Hotel before the tour starts. I will arrive there on the 4th of december. I am very happy to hear that you are all making the same trip and that you travel on your own, too. It´s my first contiki Tour... I will stay in Sydney for five days after the trip and hope we can celebrate new years eve together...

I am also doing the tour on this date with my boyfriend Johnny. We arrive in Darwin on the 4th, we are in Bali for a week beforehand! And then we spend New Year in Sydney too.

Hey everyone, I'm freaking out just a little bit as I'm having a really hard time finding a place to stay over new years, all the hostles are booked from the 30th to the 2nd. If anyone here is having the same troubles as I am and need somewhere to sleep around these nights maybe we would look into sharing a hotel or something just for these few nights, then go to a hostel after new years. I'm in Syndey until the 9th of January and have found tons of hostels available after the few days surrounding new years so really sharing a hotel with anyone having the same troubles as I am is the only idea I can come up with for those few nights. Hopefully you have all booked your hostels already (for your sake), but if not please let me know and maybe we can find a solution! Thanks for reading.

Hi, sorry been away for a while. Sorry to hear you're having problems finding somewhere in Sydney. I'm staying at the YHA in Glebe. I don't know any more info than that unfortunately because the travel agent booked it. Can't believe it's only 2 and a bit weeks away...can't wait!!!
