I'm trying to figure out if I should take a big suitcase or a large backpacker style backpack. I'll be in Australia a month and taking the Coast to Whitsundays tour.

Is it common for people to take a small carryon suitcase and just do laundry each week? Are there laundry facilities even available at the hotels during the tour, or is it just better to bring clothes at least to last the 2 week tour?

there are laundry at almost all hotels. and if not there is a sink.

i was gone for 5 weeks, brough enough to last me 2 weeks, and did laundry when i could.
