Pete83: This will be our first tour with Contiki. I'm jealous that you have the time/money for more than one tour. If I could afford it, I'm not sure I'd ever come home!
My husband-to-be has only been out of the US once (to Mexico) a few years ago (through he has been to Canada several times, in Michigan we live so close, it doesn't count). I'm almost more excited to introduce him to Europe than to go myself... almost. I look for any excuse to get out of the country... and I hope there are a good mix of people from other countries on the tour as well- the greater the diversity, the greater the adventure, right?

GSW: Have any of you been with Contiki before? When will you be getting in? We're going a day early and spending an extra night in London. We will also be staying an extra day in London at the end of the trip- it worked better for flights home.

Looking forward to traveling and making memories with all of you! 85 days and counting!

gday guys.
i've only had the time to tour because i've worked since last april without a break. so my annual leave has accrued. long time to work, but it'll be well worth it.
canada counts too, its another country altogether.
i'll be in london on sunday 8th (day before) and wed 18th (day after) but not sure of times. i'll be coming and going from liverpool where i'm with an uncle. i'm staying at the contiki basement (where the tour departs, so its preety easy for me!)
so as you know a little about me, now i've got to ask: whats your names, age and job?
definately looking forward to meeting everyone.
50 days till i leave Big Grin

hey... hope all is well...

you're still lucky with that vacation time- in the states we can work all year without a break (i even have to work holidays and weekends) and are lucky to get 2 weeks off for the year. in either case, i'm jealous!

i didn't mean to insult Canada by implying it doesn't count as a country. it's just that when you live so close, and with the border rules (although they're getting worse), it's almost like going from 1 state to another. i actually often prefer the culture in Canada to my own. i'm not a hater, but the more one travels, the more informed their perspective becomes on their own country (especially of the states).

my name is Kelli, i'm 27 and i am a therapist at a residential substance abuse treatment facility. most of my clients struggle with mental illness as well as addiction. since i'm fluent in spanish and very familiar with latino cultures, i am the primary therapist for the hispanic residential program.

my fiance is Derek. he is 30 years old and works at a local community college in public relations. he also teaches part time at the college and sometimes at the local university as well.

hopefully others that post on this board will also give us the chance to get to know each other and share some info about themselves.

can't wait!!! and Pete, we'll be thinking of you (jealously) when you're already in your first tour and we're... stuck working. Wink

hey...

pleasure to chat with u kelli and derek.

well in oz, we can work public holidays and weekends for extra pay or a day off later in time as we need it. but that can depend on the industry you're in. oh yeah, i've also been to NYC back in 2000/2001 for a month for christmas. that was only 9mths before 9/11

i know what u mean by the canada thing, i'm just stirring the pot a little. we have the same sort of jokes about tasmania being another country when its actually a state of australia.
that quote of urs is too true :"the more one travels, the more informed their perspective becomes on their own country"

by the sounds of it, both of ur works have high demand, hopefully with good rewards.

if you have a myspace page, look me up. email is "pddanher@hotmail.com" OR display name is "PETE83". just give me a gday msg with the invite pls so i know its actually u, i get 1 or 2 a week from the states that i deny

i can't wait either!!! oh and kelli, i'll be thinking of you both (with no jealousy) when i'm on my first tour and u're... stuck working. Wink

cheers, talk soon

Hey, we are actually flying in on the the 10th. We decided to take an extra day in Paris. Figured we might not get a chance to see everything we wanted in the time given.

You think this tour is pretty full? Because not many people have responded on the forums.

gday kelli
the extra day is probably a good idea. dont worry too much about it just being us on the forum, from what i've heard the numbers arent anything to go by. not many people know about this area. we could have maximum number like 50 or minimum like 20.
take care and speak soon xo Wink

I just emailed them.

On the website and the brochure, the June9-19 trip is identified as a "guaranteed departure" too. When I hear back from them, I'll let you all know.

Here is the email from Contiki:

European Magic 10-19 June is ready to go, no cancellations have been made. Not sure why your friends were advised a different information; in this case I would recommend to have your friends calling our 1800-CONTIKI to verify their information.
