Hi Lans

I will be spending a few days in London before the tour.  Probably around the 31 August onwards before the tour.

The rest of the time will be spent with the rellies in Wiltshire.

Where in Oz you from?  I'm from Melbourne.

Hey everyone

Well I hvae done it, I am booked in to leave on 3rd August with the rest of you!

I will be flying out from Sydney on 29th July, so spending 4 nights in London (through the Contiki package, a triple share room) in the Royal National, right above the Contiki meeting place. So if anyone else is planning the same thing let me know, maybe we can meet before the tour leaves?

I am so excited!!

Hey everyone,

Well we have booked for contrasts tour on the 3rd! Only 6 months to go...
We also have another friend comin along so the more the merrier.
After the tour we r plannin on goin thru france spain and portugal which should be great. Lookin forward to meetin everyone and havin a blast on the other side of the world! We are stayin one night at the royal national on the 2nd, seems like a good place to meet up with people and then stumble down the next mornin onto the bus. Anyone read the contiki booklet about the size of the backpaks? Anyone know if there are size restrictions or does it just have to weigh under 20kgs?

Seeya in just under 6 months, not that we r counting...

Hi Todd

Yay!  You booked it!  And Lans too.  Was beginning to wonder if it was just going to be me going Wink

I think the deal with backpacks is that they can't have a structured frame.  (You know, like the old scout ones!!)  But still have to be under 20kgs.  In the back of the brochure there is a little more info about it, but I can't find it on the website.  Maybe you could ask the question on one of the other msg boards.

I'll also be at the Royal National on the 2nd, but will be at the backpackers in London for a couple of days before that (WAY cheaper!).  Then off to Berlin after the tour.

I can't wait to go now either.  Its gonna be huge!

Wow,

Checked this site a few wks ago when I booked and there was nobody. Glad to hear there are lot's of girls travelling alone as I was starting to get nervous. I'm aussie, 25 from Melbourne and travelling alone. Will be in London on 16/07 and not heading home till 16/09.
Happy to meet up with anyone from Melbourne before we leave or can organise to meet anyone in London before the tour starts. Lans, if I'm in Sydney before we leave I'll let you know if you like. Lij, we will have to organise a drink somewhere. Where in Melbourne are you from?
Have no set plans yet for the week before or the two weeks after the tour so if someone needs a travel buddy, where are we going?
Thinking I may have to book into the Royal National for the 2nd like all of you.
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hello!

I'm booked to go on this tour too! It's great to see a few other people going!

I'm a 22 year old female from wollongong NSW, and this is my first time overseas and i'm travelling alone.

I'm fly to london on 31 july and have 2 nights in london before the tour and am also staying at the royal national hotel!   So it sounds like I will be seeing you all there!

Has anyone thought about how much spending money they'll be taking?   I've been told $100 a day is enough but I was wondering other people's thoughts.

Hey Kate,

We were thinkin $100 was a good amount, havent decided on which extras we'll do yet though...
That equals about 60 euros at the moment guess it just depends on what u do, what u eat n how much u drink!
C u in august.

Hi folks

Been doing some research into this myself.  If you do all the extras (except the obviously expensive one like parachuting in Corfu) but just the basic dinners and shows and stuff it works out about $1700AUD.  There are details of costs of the extras on this website if you want to have a look.

I was thinking $100AUD would be a good amount AFTER paying for all the extras.  There will also be days when you won't spend that amount too, so you can carry over your allowance to the next day. Smiler)

134 days to go!!!

Lij
