Are you going solo? Have you ever gone on a contiki tour before? This will be my first one and i am by myself. Like everyone else who is travelling alone i am excited and nervous. But my best friend went on contiki tour and she loved it.

Actually the 15th and the 17th are the same trip... if you're booking from North America it's the 15th, from anywhere else it's the 17th. It has something to do with the time zones I think, I have the Contiki book on my desk and it says the 15th is the day you depart from Canada, but the 17th is the day that the trip leaves from London.

So...I was going to wait until I had booked the trip to start posting here, but the travel agent was closed yesterday, and I'm just so excited about doing this trip that I couldn't wait another week to start talking to fellow travelers! So I'm going back to the travel agent on Saturday to book it, and provided the 15th/17th of September isn't COMPLETELY full, that's the one I'm going to be doing!

I should probably introduce myself too, eh? I'm Scott, or Scottie, 22 turning 23 in August, from BC, Canada, and I'm going to be traveling solo just like you guys... never been outside of north america before so I'm stoked to get to see the other side of the world for a change!

Hi Scottie!

Thanks for the clarification on the trips. Hopefully the trip isn't full so you can join us! I was really starting to get worried when i first booked the trip because i made a posting and nobody answered. So this is a relief. Its also nice to know another Canadian will be joining me in my super awesome European journey. But the thing thats so compelling about contiki is that you get to meet people from all around the world.

Thanks for the welcome Erika! I saw your other posting but this one had the most responses which is why I posted in it!

From Ontario, eh? Surely you know what I have to ask next...Senators or Leafs? :P

I'm really looking forward to this trip, meeting people from all over the world is definitely one of the main reasons for going...the others being the sightseeing, the food, and of course the parties are a nice little bonus lol!

What part are you looking forward to the most? I can't decide just yet, I've been reading up on the optionals and all of the different travel journals that people have posted here...it's a month long but I'm afraid it's going to end up going by so quickly since there's just so many things to see and do.

Well I'm not a huge hockey fan but i would have to say leafs. I think i am most looking forward to is Paris, because its been one of my dreams to go there. But i am realling looking forward to Venice as well. City on the water, you can't get anymore romantic than that.

I am worried that it will go by quickly as well. It will definately be super hard to go back to work when i get back. I have been looking at alot of the forums here too. Mostly money saving tips and things like that. I keep forgetting that after i pay for the trip i have to have spending money and exursion money for an entire month.

But i figure i will just put it all on my credit card and just pay for it when i get home. I am going to spend as much as i want because i am not passing anything up. Who knows when i will get this kind of chance again.

hey guys, I am so looking forward to this trip, more so now cause I have met both of you. I'll be your annoying Aussie of the trip, I have never been overseas before so its goning to be scary and exciting. Thanks for the info about the leaving dates scottie, so you did manage to book on this trip?

I am doing 2 contiki tours, the other is around great britian and ireland which I am doing first and then spending a few days with friends in London before heading off on this one. I am still saving for both trips meaning I am spending alot of time at home watching tv but I figure the experience to going to be totally worth it.

Hey Stephanie, nice to meet ya! I won't be able to go to the travel agent until Saturday...so I'll know in a couple more days, I'm going there first thing in the morning. I read somewhere that they can fit about 50 people per trip, which is a lot...and judging by the fact that there's only 4 of us posting here so far, and that it's the very last trip of the season, I don't think it's full yet :P

(The reason I picked this date for the trip specifically is because my cousin is getting married at the end of August, and I promised him that I wouldn't miss his wedding, even if it meant delaying my European adventure for another month.)

So you're from Australia eh? I have another cousin who is doing a Contiki trip there right now! Beautiful country, I definitely want to go and see it someday.

As you both mentioned, it's quite an expensive trip, when you factor in the cost of the trip itself, the flights, the optionals, and the spending money...I'm going to be completely broke after it, but you know, it's totally worth the experience you get from it Big Grin

Hey Stephanie,

I am totally in the same boat. I have been staying in while my friends have been going out to the bar spending lots of money on drinks. But i just figure i will blow my money at a bar, but my bar will be in Europe...so there. lol.

I think that i will definately take a contiki trip to Australia in the next couple years. My friend did the Austrailia trip and New Zealand trip and she had the most amazing time. I would do it next year but i am going to Las Vegas for my 21st birthday.

I figure that my 20s are going to be nothing working and travel but i wouldn't have it any other way. Wink
