Hi everyone

I am planning on doing a tour in 2006, but havent decided which month - somewhere between June-September..

Anyone have any advice on which month is best?

Also, anyone planning to hang around England, either before or after the tour?

Im 21, from Sydney, going on my own!

Lans

Hey guys,

I've booked for 4th June with Sarah (above)... can't wait!!

Hopefully it won't be too hot when we go, I've heard July is a killer... stopping over in Thailand on the way and way back if anyone wants to join us!

Cheers,

Amber

Hi Everyone

Im thinking of going July/August, havent picked an exact date...I think i need to just go book it and stop thinking about it!

Its great to be able to hear from other people going, and what your plans are etc...

If anyone has already been on a contiki tour maybe they can give us some tips?

Does anyone know how strict they are with the luggage sizes?

Lans

Hi Lans

I have booked in for July 2 and I am also going by myself, im 23 from Adelaide and decided on Sunday I was going and booked then and there perhaps thats what you should do. Im leaving for UK on 18 Jun and hanging around for 2 weeks before tour and then 2 weeks after, Ill prob go to Disneyland by Eurostar in the last 2 weeks.

You can only take 20kg on the Contiki, thats what it said in the book.

Cheers Kass

Hello guys, me and my sister are planning on going end of may/beginning of june. Just one question...how do you guys know the dates already and how are you booked!? They tell me no dates are available yet. Maybe it is because you live somewhere else? well I'll talk to you guys latter!

I think most of us are from Australia - the dates are already out over here.

I haven't got my brochure on me, but I can tell you that June 4th is a guaranteed departure date (I've booked that one!), which means it will definately go ahead - they won't cancel.  Which is good to know when booking flights!

I think from memory, there was another one leaving June 2nd, but it wasn't a guaranteed departure date, so we went with the 4th.

thank you! I was really worried that all the dates were going and I couldn't even look at them. Maybe I'll check with a travel agent soon. Thanks again!

Just out of interest, how much money are you guys saving to take? I wanna leave either early June or early July and need to know how much to save before then. I figure ill need about 5 grand for the flights and the contiki trip but was wondering how much spending money ppl are taking.

Any advice is appreciated!

Hi Amber,  My name is Jade and I am going to do the same tour (4 June), on my own, for the same reason, it is a guarantee date to leave.  Haven't booked, but will be doing it tomorrow.  I am so excited, I can't sleep, just keep thinking about going.  From Sydney, about 1 1/2 hrs NW of Sydney.

I was hoping to meet up with some people before the tour. When are you getting to London?   Are you staying at the Royal National or Imperial.  I heard there are places cheaper then those, for back packers and contiki goers, will have to check out the with travel agent.
Jade.

Hi Jade,

Yay!!  Another tour mate!

We'll be leaving Syd on qantas on May 30th and spending 3.5 nights in Bangkok (cheap shopping!) before going to London, arriving 7 am the morning before the tour departs (the 3rd).  It's easy to get stopovers in Thailand on the way and way back, so if you want to come to Thailand too, come with us!  Otherwise we can definately meet up in London and hang out (depending on who you're flying with and when - may even be on the same flight!).

On the way home we are spending 10 nights or so in southern thailand... prob Koh Samui, maybe Koh Phangan for the full moon party.  Thailand's so cheap too... I thought I'd be mad not to stop for some time to chill on the way back (recovery time??).

We are staying at the Royal National, I have heard there are cheaper places, like the Generator, but also that you get what you pay for...
RN is supposed to be the easiest (quite dear though!) but we are only staying one night either night of the tour so its not that bad.

I know what you mean, I lay awake thinking about it too... I want to start packing already!  Ha ha... 6.5 months to go...
