Awesome! Jo and I just paid in full this week. Now for the great airfare quest. They told us the trip was guaranteed departure now bc they had ~35 ppl signed up so far. No risk on booking airfare and not going Wink

So you know who we are Big Grin

This is Jo (behind my wanker ex-bf):

and this is me:

Was kinda funny last year seeing ppl at the sign-in that we'd seen on here.

Ah, I am at work again, so I have no pictures here. After I read your message board I talked to Tamara and we are trying to extend our trip to Budapest as well. We already have our flights though, so we are changing the whole shebang. We did not even see that as an option when we initially booked - thanks for the idea!

Hi my name is Ryan, and I am taking the Luftansa flight from Dallas to Franfurt to Berlin as well. Does anybody have any ideas on the best way to get from the airport to the hotel? This is my first Contiki trip, but my 3rd time to Europe. My Contiki trip ends in Vienna, but then I am going solo to Zurich. Looking forward to meeting everybody and having a great time.

Hey Ryan, Are you on the Frankfurt flight to Berlin that lands at 11am? My friend Jo's flight lands around 11:10, and someone posted some instructions on another thread about how to get to the hotel using the train.

Just want to make sure we have the same hotel as the one in that thread - I guess we'll know when the travel documents come in.

This is the thread with the directions:

You can take bus X9, 109 from Berlin Tegel to Junfernheide, then take U-Bahn to Landsberger Allee. Traveler's fare cost about 14 Euro. Plaza Hotel Berlin is in a central location at border of Mitte and Friedrichhain.

That is my flight and thanks for the threads, I haven't received any confirmation on the hotel. I have not decided how to get from the airport to the hotel as I am looking into attending a soccer (footbal) game while in Berlin. Has anybody attened a soccer match in Europe?

I guess we will know more in the next week or two. Thanks again for the info.

Hi Ryan, We're coordinating our travel to the hotel on this thread over here.

I posted a pic so you'll know what I look like -I'd better be in an aisle seat Big Grin

My friend Jo arrives on the same flights from Miami/Milan with Monica who's also on the tour, and you're on mine from Dallas. Looks like the four of us may be able to figure something out, but looks like we're in a different hotel than what we thought.

No kidding about the aisle seat, that is the way to go.

I have done a little research about transport from Tegel to the hotel, and it looks like it will take about an hour. Tegel is in roughly northwest Berlin and the hotel is in east Berlin. You can take a Jet Express TXL bus to the Hauptbahnhof (central station) from their you take a S or U bahn line to the hotel.

I plan on getting a WelcomeCard for 72 hours, it's about 22 euros, and it will cover the trains, trams,, and buses in all zones ABC; plus you can get discounts at a lot of tourist attractions.

Hope this helps.

About the hotel, they sent me these directions:

you can either take the taxi from airport tegel, it will take you for about 40 mins or you take the Bus called "TXL" to Berlin Alexanderplatz then change into the underground line 5, direction Hönow until the station Tierpark. Then it will be a walk for only two mins to our hotel.
