so me and a couple of friends have booked the berlin to budapest trip for august and i'm wondering how it is. not really understanding the "getaway" term. thanks for any input from anyone.

I went on the same tour this past May and it was awesome. On a "getaway" tour you have a lot more free time than on any other tour type. You get a short orientation tour of each city you visit and your tour manager will point some sites on the map that might interest you and after that you are on your own. I bought some travel guides before I left because I didn't know what to expect. Looking back on it, I am glad I did my research because even though you do get more free time, it was still not enough for me. It was nice to know the places which I wanted to visit before getting there because I didn't spend as much time wandering where to go. So I would totally recommend getting some kind of travel guide and doing your research before you go so you know what you want to see.
