Hi
I'm 25 and from Melbourne Austrlaia and i'll be doing this tour going all the way to Budapest.

I'm travelling solo and wont be joining the tour until the night of day 2 (28th Dec) because i'm coming from Estonia on anotehr Tour, this one with Top Deck.

I've done a Contiki before (Scandinavia & Russia in 2004) and had a really good time. So i'm relaly looking forward to it, and meeting all you people! Smiler

This is my first contiki tour and was just wondering what they are like? Does anyone know if it's a real party atmosphere or is it pretty laid back and chilled?

It totally depends on your group. I've been on 2 Contiki trips before and with both there were some people who liked to go out and party a lot and some who didn't. I think whatever you're lookng for, you're likely to find some like-minded people.

I agree, I think the great thing about these trips is you can do either. If you are looking to go out and party there will most certainly be people to do that with but there will also be history buffs and people who just want to chill. Also, you always have the option of using the free time to break away from the group and do your own thing if you would like. I am sure you are going to have a killer time!

Hello! I am Abe, 28, from Los Angeles and I just signed up for this tour today so I am very excited and jazzed up about it. I was told that Prague for New Years is amazing, so I'm very much looking forward to it. I will be visiting a friend in Wales beforehand and then flying to Berlin. We were actually supposed to go backpacking to Scandinavia, but I was unable to get any information from him, so I grew tired of trying to make all the plans and not getting feedback.. Anyway, hopefully we can have some good dialogue beforehand and then have a great time while on tour. I've done quite a few Contiki's over the past few years, so I am excited as to what's to come.. We will all have a great time I'm sure... I am just doing the Berlin and Prague portion of the tour, but I'm sure it will be a blast.

Hey, im on this trip, going to Budapest.
Am travelling solo also, have done a contiki before but with friends, but not solo so should be different, but fun! Am currently in the UK studying but am from Australia (along with many of you I am guessing!) Benno, it does tend to depend on your group, but there is usually always someone that wants to do the same as you. See you all soon!

I have a ski jacket but i'm not bringing it (hopefully i wont regret this). It's too heavy and will take up too much space in my bag. I'm bringing a puffer jacket that has duck feather and down between the outer and inner layer and faux fur on the inside lining with a big hood if it's snowing. I'm also bringing a puffer vest and some wool jumpers, hoodies, scarfs, mittens and a hat.

It's already snowing in lots of places in Europe so i expect it to be pretty cold. I'm leaving for Europe next week and spending xmas in russia, and it's definatly snowing there now Smiler

I was planning on bringing a couple of jackets but am thinking of just bringing one warm ski jacket and a hoodie. Just going to keep checking the forecast, hopefully it wont look too bad when we get a little closer.

Is anyone going to be in Berlin the day before the trip?

I'll arrive in Berlin on the 26th.

I see in your earlier post you're coming from NYC? When are you flying out? I'm coming from Chicago but flying through JFK.
