yeah got my thermals too. pretty snug :P

I got a 75Litre backpack from Kathmandu as they had a 40-50% sale so got a nice deal.
I'm going to have to start practicing taking it apart and putting it together while hungover in preparation =]

yep i'm 26/m/WA
Whats the luggage restrictions exactly? I tend to overpack too but I'm thinking I'm likely to buy stuff while there so will need to keep some room available.

Hey Guys,

Not long to go now, just over 2 months...

We've pretty much organised most things, didn't even think of thermals till I read this though :P So I'll have a look for some over the next few weeks.

Curious as to what these restrictions are as well? Although I'll prolly leave some room in my suitcase for purchases along the way anyways.

It's 20kg max for the suitcase (and there is no going over by even 0.1 apparantly, they are really strict - but they only weigh it on the day we depart). Can also take one carry on/day bag. Not sure what I'm going to take yet -whether I'll go the back pack or a satchel type bag.

I found all the info for luggage etc in trip forums/europe advice/frequently asked questions/luggage.

Packing is going to suck - I don't know how I'm going to go with the weight restrictions.

Can't beleive it's only 2 months away as well!! Can't wait to meet you guys.

I read theres also size dimensions for the suitcases in that forum, but they aren't so strict on that.

Packing will be interesting now, as we're staying in London for about 4 nights before hand, won't be able to buy too much before we leave for the tour.

Just a quick question, hows everyone getting from the airport to their hotels in London? I've been looking at a few different methods and not sure which one to go with...

The suitcase dimensions are something like 73 X 50...but yeah it's only the weight they are strict about. I actually opted for a smaller case and that still weighs 4.5kg before I put anything in it..arggghhh!! I did read that if you want to, you can store stuff at the Royal National (for a fee...of course, not sure how expensive it is though)and then pick it up on the way back, so that might be an option for you if you want to do some shopping in London.

Yeah I'm not sure which way to go either...taxi's seem far too expensive, so it will probably be between the tube or hotel link.

Hey guys,

Yeah its pretty hot here in Melb atm too, prolly high 30's if not low 40's.
-2 in london last week.

When does everybody arrive in London? We get in on the 21st sometime in the evening.

We've settled for the dot 2 dot shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel, only costing 35 pounds for the 2 of us... pretty good compared to taxis and the heathrow express train.

Well hey there fellow tour peeps! Happy New Year! Hope you all had a good festive season. Not long to go now..we can all finally say, "I'm going overseas next month!" I finally stopped procrastinating and bought some 'day' luggage..got a pacsafe backpack and a packsafe shoulder kind of bag for little items...probably being bit overcautious but u never know. How exciting! Yeah, the only thing that doesn't excite me is leaving our summer to go to a European winter...hmm! Speaking of the cold, got me some thermals..they look sooo hot NOT lol. haha.
